White Kitchen w/ Danby Marble- help w/ backsplash!
Comments (15)Thank you for the great suggestions. I would love to check out the walker zanger Gramercy park. There are no WZ distributors near us - Madison wi so I'm going to have to travel a ways to find a show room. Ellendi I think your spot on about there not being enough of a contrast between my creamy cabinet color and my danby marble so a basic subway wont wor as it does in Phorbin's beautiful kitchen. I need some type of transition. I know cararra marble is out as it has too much grey and white. I think I really need to introduce the cream shade. I love the glass tile look but I feel as if I'm going for the classic timeless look in my materials so I almost feel a ceramic would fit the bill better. Boy does tile run the gamut in price! I never knew. I also love Bee,s beautiful arabesque tile- not sure of the shade that would be best. I don't really want to introduce any "color" I like the uniformity of whites and creams....See MoreBacksplash Design Inputs - Brick Travertine w/ Quartzite mosaic
Comments (11)I really like your backsplash choices. The colors are beautiful and I hope that you will share what the name of the mosaic is...it's yummy! Just 2 comments: going soley by your photshopped images, I like the layout on the left better. Also, I would consider adding a listello between the brick and the mosaic to help define the design. (I think that's what they call the long skinny 'border' pieces of tile.) It's really going to be beautiful! Sandy...See MorePot filler w/ this backsplash too busy? Slab or tile backsplash?
Comments (9)Hi Katie, Demo starts tomorrow, so no pics on progress yet, but I'll post when I have some. I'm working a little bit with a KD, and doing the rest myself with cabinetmaker. KD suggested open shelving like in the inspiration pic (but in stainless, specifically). I think it would stress me out though, lol! Having all of my bottles and stuff right out there (the range area is the focal point to basically my whole downstairs living area). My pantry rarely looks fabulous, and I'd be moving the pantry out into the open. So, I think we'll be making the vertical column things on either side of the mantel style range area into pull-out shelves for sheet pans, spices, small bottles, etc. I considered the open shelving with a pretty display of white bowls and dishes, but then I'd lose the storage space for the stuff I really need at my fingertips. Feel free to email me, too, if you want to exchange more ideas. It's a fun process!...See MoreNeed backsplash help/white cabinets/calacatta counters
Comments (18)Walker Zanger has great tiles. I'd select something with a handmade look, with texture. Maybe a crackle, or wavy appearance. Also something with a slight color variation so it's not totally monochromatic. This Walker Zanger tile comes in several colors: This is a glazed brick and comes in various colorways: Love these green tiles! These are Moroccan Zeliige tiles: Fishtail tiles in a dark color make a great statement: Hand Glazed terracotta in turquoise works beautifully in this white kitchen: You could also use a pencil liner for an accent: Staggered 4x4 tiles in a pretty blue: These are all from my ideabook "Backsplash tiles and patterns" if you'd like to see more....See MoreEpiarch Designs
