WELL IM GOING TO TELL YOU ALL LIKE THIS...I AM 17 YEARS OLD AND IT IS NOT EASY STAYING IN THE SAME HOUSE WITH MY MOM...NOW BEFORE PEOPLE START SAYING...ITS JUST LIFE...OR IM JUST A REGULAR OLD TEENAGER..THEY NEED TO HEAR MY STORY..I LOVE MY MOM TO DEATH..NOTHING WOULD MAKE ME FEEL ELSE WISE ABOUT HER...MY FATHER HAD NEVER BEEN AROUND WHICH MAKES MY MOTHER A SINGLE PARENT. MY MOTHER WORKS 3RD SHIFT..SHE BARELY HAS TIME TO SPEND WITH ME...SO BASICALLY IM HOME ALL DAY WITH NOTHING TO DO...IM TRYING TO GET A JOB AS OF NOW..BUT OF COURSE NO LUCK...I APPRECIATE EVERYTHING MY MOM DO AS A PARENT..SHE GETS MEAN PROPS FOR THAT..BUT IM STILL STUCK ON THIS ONE THING....SHE HAS A DRINKING PROBLEM..AND IT ANNOYS ME TO DEATH..INSTEAD OF HER BEING A GOOD ROLE MODEL FOR ME..AND SHOWING ME WHATS GOOD TO DO AND WHATS NOT..SHE DOES THE TOTAL OPPOSITE...WHEN MY MOM GETS DRUNK..SHE STARTS BRAGGING ON HOW MUCH MONEY SHE MAKES..AND HOW SHE BETTER THAN EVERYBODY..AND THE WEIRDEST THING TO ME..SHE ALWAYS TRY TO THROW THINGS IN MY FACE AS IF SHES IN COMPETITION WITH ME...IM SO TIRED OF IT..AND THEN THERE ARE SOME NIGHTS WHEN SHE COMES IN THE HOUSE AND JUST WANT TO FIGHT ME...SLAPPING ME AND IN MY FACE WHILE IM SLEEP OR PUNCHING ME BECAUSE SHE CANT FIND SOMETHING THAT SHE LOST..AND PERSONAL THINGS ABOUT ME ALWAYS COME OUT HER MOUTH WHEN SHE DRINKING...THE LIST GOES ON AND ON AND ON...BUT I CANT LIVE LIKE THIS..AND ITS TO THE POINT WHERE I WANT TO BE ON MY OWN..AND JUST BE TO MYSELF..SO BEFORE PEOPLE START THINKING THAT TEENAGERS JUST WANTS TO BE ON THERE ON SO THEY CAN DO WHAT THEY WANT TO DO..THINK AGAIN..ITS A STORY TO EVERYTHING...AND I JUST FEEL THAT I NEED TO BE AWAY FROM MY MOM..I HATE FORCING MYSELF FROM HITTING HER BACK WHEN SHES DRUNK AND CURSING HER..BECAUSE I KNOW SHE IS UNDER THE INFLUENCE..BUT SHE JUST DONT KNOW HOW SHE IS EFFECTING ME PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY..IM TIRED OF THE MESS AND I WANT OUT..BUT WHERE SHOULD I GO.?

When a child is born into a family, as parents you experience emotions that are found in no other human relationship. That deep sorrow you feel may take some more time to dispel, but the God of comfort will help you through this time of sadness. Something that always brings me comfort is knowing that God yearns to reunite all children with their parents. To suffer the death of a child feels so unnatural! But this promise is something that will bring you much more comfort than just believing that she is in heaven. At Isaiah 26:19 God assures us "Your dead ones will live. A corpse of mineÂthey will rise up. Awake and cry out joyfully, YOU residents in the dust! For your dew is as the dew of mallows, and the earth itself will let even those impotent in death drop [in birth]." In fact, YOU WILL get to talk to her, kiss her, hold her, rejoice with her, and comfort her again on this earth. Not only will you be able to be with your daughter, but it will be under better circumstances. "He will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore" at Revelation 21:4. Isn't it comforting to know that one day we will never have to go through the pain of losing our children again and you and your husband have the chance to be with your daughter again in perfect health and happiness. I hope the promises in the holy scriptures bring you as much comfort as they did in my time of grieving.

I was in Germany in the Army in the the 70s. His show was on Armed Forces Radio Network. It was Thanksgiving 1976 and we all worked in the air traffic control tower and were in our 20s. None of us knew how to "do Thanksgiving." Mike had a whole week of recipes and every day one of us "signed on to the radio" to copy down the recipe of the day. The others covered the business of talking to the pilots. Wynn and I shopped and were going to be the cooks. We were SO proud of ourselves - Apple pie, Turkey, Stuffing, Salad, Sweet Potato Casserole, Green Bean Casserole (not from Mike), and Mashed Potatoes. We served everyone with a flourish. After saying grace, everyone dug in. We noticed some people were making faces but trying to be polite. Wynn took a bite of the dressing and loudly stated, "this tastes like SH#T!" The dressing had two types of alcohol added. EACH of us had not only added the alcohol, but we intentionally EACH added "a bit extra", a gross understatement! Not Mike's fault and I have a story I've been telling for 40 years!

Instead, focus on gratitude exercises to bring happiness from the inside out. If you allow your self-image to be at the mercy of unpredictable events and unreliable people, your happiness will be forever on a chaotic roller coaster ride! Happiness must always be an inside joy! When you are tempted to focus on all the ways the world has done you wrong, instead count your blessings by making a list of the five aspects of your life that you appreciate. It is good practice to purposefully end your day this way to keep focused. Look for the Lesson Many Buddhists consider huge difficulties to be a sign you're an old soul�"the bigger your misfortunes, the closer you are to enlightenment. Whether you believe this or not, it's certainly cheery to reframe all your life's bad events as tests of your character. If you feel particularly tested right now, ask yourself what the heck you're being tested for! Patience? Compassion? Resilience? Forgiveness? Open-mindedness? What strengths must you develop further? Now consciously go out there and develop them! Maintain Perspective If you're going through a challenging time, remind yourself that this specific event is merely a part of your life�"not your "whole" life. Consciously keep this "slice of life" perspective, and don't let the event overwhelm you. As the song goes, "The best is yet to come!" Learn the Lesson Develop a "student not victim" mentality. Vow not only to disentangle yourself from emotionally harmful situations, but also to consciously avoid similar situations in the future. Let Go of Resentment Keep in mind a fabulous Carrie Fisher quote: "Resentment is the poison you swallow hoping the other person will die." Recognize that when you resent someone, you are not only hurting yourself, you're also giving this person control of your emotions�"and you don't want to give this person bubkes! Stay Centered Recognize that when you respond with hate to hate, anger to anger, bitterness to bitterness, you are ironically becoming part of the problem. Choose to resist becoming like them and instead put in the conscious effort to remain a loving, soulful, happy person. Get Revenge Positively Contemplating revenge? The best kind of revenge is living a successful, happy life. If you train yourself to consistently be more loving in thoughts and actions, your energy will attract more positive people and positive results. As Albert Einstein said, "You can't solve a problem by staying in the same energy in which it was created." To stay focused on highly positive thoughts, repeat this meditation ritual throughout the day: "Love, forgiveness, letting go, peace."
