Thanks to all of you for the thoughtful feedback. I do not want to go the expense of a speed oven just for a few times a year. Xedos, apparently I have done more research in this area than you. This Amana model has five power settings so it does defrost at the 20% power level and can do popcorn at one of the lower power settings. It just doesn't have the dedicated button. Since posting this question, I have called the Amana rep who states that I can use this model for cooking large casseroles as long as I allow the mw to rest for two minutes between 10 minute settings with the door open to allow moisture to vent out. The rep said that unlike the residential mw, the commerial ones do not have a way to vent moisture for longer cooking periods. By the way, I like the fact that commercial microwaves usually rotate the energy source in the roof of the oven rather than rotating the food as in residential microwaves. Folks, I know there is no such thing as an attractive commercial mw. For me in this situation, function trumps aesthetics. I'm really disgusted with the current disposable mw market when the technology for longevity was known two generations ago. Think how many landfills are full of all those dead microwaves. For many models, two years is considered a good track record. Dan1888 and Xedos, thanks for the Panasonic invertor information. I had studied that model, but it had it's fair share of negative reviews. You have definately peaked my interest, and I will look again. Seven years plus is not too bad of a track record. I just don't know if the cavity will hold really large casseroles. Xedos, what model do you have?

any wood piece that spans across the two cabinet sides is a fine fine support. The sink setter is good too because it looks like a product sold as a product, and there are many people who need that kind of reassurance which is all psychological. Both A and B above are a larger structure than a series of individual clips (not connected to each other in a larger structure). Since they both are attached to the cabinetry, they don't need to grab onto the stone or quartz or whatever material countertop. Any form of grip / grab onto the underneath of the countertop material has its disadvantages; therefore your sink support should have a mechanical con nection to the cabinet. Here is a description of the disadvantages of using some other method as the sole means of mechanical support: 1. Holes drilled in a countertop weaken it. If it cracks one day, you lose. . 2. Silicone is strong but is not proven to be strong enough all the time. Silicone is never sold as a mechanical fastener, by the way. So, what this means is that "a number of clips" is a method that is less than ideal, less than the best, and not to be recommended. The clips have to be attached with some kind of glue or screws going into (new weakness) holes. Any ONE clip might be less-well-aligned compared to the others and it might end up taking a lot of the mechanical stress, and if so this then puts all the mechanical stress onto one new screw hole or one glued clip. In reality, this IS what happens. It is possible to use glue sold as glue (that's not silicone), and which is designed to grip onto stone. But this kind of glue might work or might only work half as well as expected. Ya never know. Just put a cross bar from side to side and you will have done more work in less time. Hth

I was hoping scrappy would join the conversation. I just snapped a pic of mine and you can see it does not splash with the faucet on regular flow. I believe you need to choose the faucets carefully to fit your use, especially if wall mounted. One thing I'd like to mention though is that I would not want to give up the shelf to hand washing. That is my favorite prep area. As I've used my sink for six months now, I've developed patterns; I use the right 3/4's for prep and the area to the left of the drain for dirty/transitional stuff and hand washing. Hand washing is a main reason I went with the Kohler. My DH is not trainable regarding this and it's one of the reasons we chose the stages. I did consider this in the planning stage and have my fridge to the right of the landing counter, the trash and recycle directly below the center of the sink and DW to the left. We considered two faucets but ultimately went with one Kohler Karbon. It reaches all corners and i love that I do not have to hold it. I love it as much as my sink. The shelf is very handy during prep. That's where I open packages, put my prep scraps, actually it changes jobs continually and I have to say it is the most active part of my sink and I would not want hand washing there. I also place my small dish drainer there for cleanup. This is my typical setup except I usually use small colanders on the grate, then slide them under my cutting boards to keep the left clear for hand washing. In your case, I would consider a wall mount Karbon on the shelf side and the Hi-rise on the left.

What sort of jobs do you do in a utility sink, e.g. clean paint brushes, wash the dog, rinse off dirt from outside? My laundry sink does that sort of job as well as clean up wet disasters big and small. The operative word is wet and dirty. With an under-mount sink, I would be afraid of the possibility of hidden mold forming even if I were vigilant about disinfecting with bleach. Isn't there at least one side of the sink you won't see easily when scrubbing? I solved the problem with a free-standing utility sink.
