My Happy Doggie Girl! (Pic)

This is Abby (aka Abigail Blue) at the park last week...she's sooo happy when she can run wide open...It's hard to get a good picture of her otherwise...but she managed to stop long enough for me to capture her!

After almost 3 years...she's finally starting to calm down some...

liz i ALWAYS check ut your doggie pics they are always soooo beautiful! wish i could have long haired babies but i don't dare i know they'd never look this good lol.

my furbaby sandy is an airedale terrier (terror) mix who is 9 yrs old and it only just starting to slow a bit :-/ this after blowing out a knee in dec from running in the backyard which she spent 6 weeks on complete rest and recovered w/o surgery. then as soon as she was recovered slipped 3+ disks in her back celebrating her new moving ability lol... ~ liz

Thanks, everyone! The 1/2 was DH's idea so he gets the credit. I am in the Dallas area and this fall is really nice. Mommytoty, we had the same concerns. Google Solo Pet Doors. A little magnet goes on your pet's collars so it only opens for your pet. You can adjust the sensitivity, both how close your pet has to get to the door and how long it stays open. Also, it is a pulley system. Some others are motorized and can come down on your pet and do harm. If this comes down it's just the weight of the plexiglass door, so not much. We had one in our old home for 4 yrs without any problems. I highly recommend it. The only downside is that they are pricey. In our last home I had it in the wall in the closet in the bonus room. An untraditional place, but it was nice that it was out of the way and I could close the closet door and totally have it hidden. We downsized so no bonus room in the new house. If you decide to get one think about all the different places it would work for your lifestyle.

I read the other responses, but this is what I would do... I would change out the blue color, maybe a limish green or a blue than is more similar to the blue in the bottom butterfly wings on the quilts or the background in one of your pictures. Obviously, not that bright, but more in that color tone. Painting the trim would make it more girlish, but I think you could make some other changes before making that decision. If you have it in your budget to buy fabric, I would cover your beds in a solid color fabric to make the quilts pop more. Try hobby lobby for some cute wall decor. Last year, I found an adorable glittery wood wall letters that said "kisses" in the valentines section. It goes perfectly in my 5 year olds room. I would hang something like that above each of their beds. The dresser needs something cute on it. A little grouping of bears, blocks, picture frames or just something more decorative. You could paint some butterflies on one wall with just a few small pints of sample paint. You can get these at Sherwin Williams for $5 each in their cans designed to help you decide on a color and you can mix them in any of their colors. It would add a lot of pizzazz to the room, and a butterfly shape is pretty simple shapes put together. I would then add some cute basic curtains, maybe in a solid color. Good Luck, I'm sure they already love it, we always overanalyze these rooms, and I am sure they love it just the same now as they would later.

wow, they are all so cute!! Great story!!! Thank you so much for sharing!! My boxer LOVES the snow also!! I'm here in Washington State so we really don't get snow a whole lot, but my StarLite just loves to play,play,play!! We just got a puppy not too long ago and it had snowed a little bit in December (I think it was) and Star showed the puppy (Deuce) to play in it. She would jump down to his level like saying "come on, do this, now lets play" it was the cutest thing ever!!! I totally agree with you about having two dogs!! I only had my 1 for about 4 years and then got a pup and it was the best thing I have ever done! Thanks, Elycia This is our puppy Deuce on mom's work desk!! This isn't the best picture of them but its when Deuce was a tiny pup and Star was sleeping.

Oh, I've given the wrong impression of her previous owners! They had actually only had her for two years. They got her from other breeders in Ontario. Solo had one litter with them and then was retired. They don't actually have that many dogs. It broke their hearts to give up Solo as they LOVED her to pieces, however they moved last weekend into a city where the by-laws are different. They were only allowed to have a certain number of dogs and so they had to give one up. After they gave Solo into our keeping, and they took pictures with her and gave her a farewell pat, they beat a hasty retreat. I could see how upset they were and I'm sure it was because they didn't want to weep in front of us. She was extremely well taken care of and they gave me reams of information on her habits and likes and dislikes. This was a well-loved dog and I can see why. She is the gentlest dog I've ever seen. Evelyn gives her treats (with my careful supervision) and she carefully nibbles it out of her hand. Of course, she musn't upset her gravy train as Evelyn tosses food off of her highchair tray and almost into Solo's waiting mouth. LOL I appreciate everyone being so worried about Solo's situation. I just wanted to let you know the truth of it. The previous owners have actually given up breeding entirely because they just couldn't devote the time to it anymore that it deserved. She is beautiful!!! I grew up with collies and love them. Ours were always outside pets and they could really get some burrs in their hair. We were always grooming them.

Thanks ya'll...Tanna...yes she's a snuggler...much more so then the boys...I think they get too hot...

Mush...she's a Blue Merle...normally they have baby blue eyes...she doesn't...our first Merle did..

Awww Liz...I'm sorry to hear about your Sandy...I hope she can recover from those disks...that has to be sooo painful!
