Here's Michael's baked beans he posted at the bean thread!
--------------------------------------
Kinda labor intensive but I've never had any complaints:
Keri's Hog-Apple Baked Beans

3 or 4 slices bacon, diced
2 (16 oz) cans pork and beans, mostly drained (modified to 2 28-oz cans Bush's Baked Beans - see note below)
1/2 c. Blues Hog BBQ Sauce (or other sweet-spicy favorite)
1 lb. smoked leftover smoked pork or beef, more or less, or 1 lb crumbled cooked pork sausage
1 can apple pie filling (chop up the big chunks some)
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 green pepper, chopped
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 Tbsp. Mustard (prepared)
1 tsp chipotle or cayenne powder (optional, to taste*)
1 tsp Blues Hog barbecue rub (or your favorite de jour)

Brown bacon, and saute onion and green pepper in bacon grease. Mix in remaining ingredients. Bake at 325º for 1 hour, or simmer on stovetop in large pot for 30 minutes if you don't have time to do them in the oven. Serves 12.

This recipe began life as APPLE PIE BAKED BEANS from somewhere on the web, but I think I've made enough changes to it now to claim it as my own. This is my standard for baked beans anymore.

*This is a rather spicy recipe due to the chipotle/cayenne powder. Feel free to leave it out if you'll be feeding those who prefer a less spicy taste.

Geez. I'm getting hungry all over again. Everybody's had such good meals tonight. Nita, the soup is so good. Of course, we have enough left for at least three more meals. I knew when you said you were having beets that Bobby must've picked the vegetable. I'm with him. Love 'em. Gadgets, I think a grilled meatloaf sandwich would be good. With cheese :-) Kath, your dinner should be interesting. Hope she didn't make Kimchi! Sue, that was a healthy meal. Don't you love cabbage? Me, too. Ann, can you share your stroganoff recipe. We love it. I usually serve it on rice. What did you have with it? Pam, is your dutch oven new? I like mine for pot roast because it holds a lot of vegetables along with the meat.

Glenda, I think that home-fried potato thread got everyone hungry for them. I'd love the raisin bread and apple butter. Just give me the loaf and the jar and that would be my dinner! Shirley, I'm fighting the temptation of adding them somewhere on this weeks menu. Not the best thing in the world for Harry, though. I love salmon. I think I missed it this year. Publix usually has beautiful red salmon (I forget what kind it is) from Washington state every year and I stock up even though it is a little pricey. Mary, I can't believe you're having rain again. Most nights I prefer your DH's dinner to yours, but tonight I like yours better. That sounds so good right now. I shouldn't read these posts before I have dinner :-)

Pam, I think you were warmer than we were. The chicken was very good but what a mess in the kitchen. And of course my dishwasher isn't working, but Harry kept them pretty well under control. The salad was a little over the top with the chicken--a simple salad would've been better. Too many flavors going on. I'd just as soon had your stir fry! Ravencajun, you're brave to go for groceries on Sunday. Our Publix is always crowded, but it's even worse on Sunday since working people are doing their shopping then. Jasdip, my mother always stewed rhubarb. Rarely did anything else with it except for an occasional pie. Nita, you'll be leaving on vacation soon, so if I don't "see" you before then, have a safe trip and have fun! I'd love a good hamburger on the grill.

They newer photos of your paint look pretty close to my kitchen and family room walls. :-) Don't worry about the mini-novel. It's the cheapest therapy there is, and if you can get a laugh in here or there, pretty good medicine too. You're doin' good!

What a good looking baby you got there, gramps. I, too, am one of the ones who enjoyed drooling over the pictures of your dinners. But I understand why that has to take 2nd place now.

Excuse me, but he still has to eat -- right? :-)

I, too, miss the photos. The baby is adorable -- maybe we can get some photos of the baby next to the plate of yummy food?

Congratulations Michael!!! What a sweet looking little guy. I understand why your priorities don't include food pictures, but you are the one that spoiled us. Maybe an occasional food picture or occasional baby picture? Or, we would like it if you would just pop in to say hello. Thanks for the recipe. I'm going to give it a try for next Sunday's after church dinner.
