SW jersey cream or SW ivorie paint color?

Between SW jersey cream and SW ivorie, which is less yellow? Are they plain and boring? Does anyone have pictures for comparison? I might have to get more samples (I'm already working w/ 12!!) its possibly for the kitchen which is surrounded by a family rm in sw blonde and a morning rm in humble gold. thanks!

I just painted my sons house SW ivorie. I don't know which color has more yellow in it but ivorie looks to have a touch more gray/green than jersey cream. The jersey has more orange to my eye. Ivorie is very pretty and a bit richer than I thought it would be. I would invest in sample pots and try them in your kitchen. Good luck.

I have SW Ivoire in the entry hall and upstairs hall of my house. It changes color depending on the light, but I think it's a nice yellow with a slight touch of green. If you look at the sample card, Navaho White is the lightest, then Blonde, Ivoire, and Restrained Gold. I tried Blonde but thought it was a bit too pale. How do you like it in your family room? I think it will go well with Ivoire in adjoining rooms.

I just remembered something. It's one of the reasons that so many people pull their hair out when trying to select a paint color. SW Ivoire has a touch of maroon in the gallon formula. Evidentally, it's not a large enough percentage to be divisible by 4, to make it in the quart sample. That's why it's imperative to buy a gallon of your final selection, in the base that you are going to be using, and paint an entire wall. That's the only way you'll ever know what it will truly look like. This old pic is probably the best example of my Ivoire.

Dover White (SW) and Grassland (SW) fix suggestions

Hello! First post! I just painted the powder room Grassland, and now the room feels darker. Could this be because the painter painted the ceiling Grassland also? (By mistake) There is white crown molding and door trim in Pure White. I need to lighten up this room somehow without repainting. Cabinets are oak and accessories are brushed nickel. The house has all new interior doors and closet doors, and they were all painted Dover White. This color now looks to me to be more of an ivory than white in one room, especially when set against bright white trim. I am thinking this color for trim and doors does not go well with lighter beige/ivory colors (BM Hawthorne 1/2 formula) as it seems to fade away in the master bedroom. The two other rooms have Restrained Gold and Sedate Gray, and in those the Dover White looks like the chip--a slighty creamy white but white. I can't paint all the doors over, and I left the ones in the hall with the original brighter white trim, so I have 2 questions: Does a differnt trim color from door color look dumb? And what should I paint the trim in the master bedroom? Sorry soooo long of a post!

Hi Elizabeth, what a lovely room! Great open flow and lightening. Such drama with the high ceilings and windows. Your waterfall counter top is stupendous. As for paint colors - I still think mink is the better choice. I looked at the photos spisland posted of her rooms in that color and liked them. I think it will look even better in your room with all that natural light, The gold/ivory upholstery on your new furniture and the woods of the media unit and lamp tables should work well with that color as well. But you never really know until you get it in the room. That is a big, high wall. Not the easiest to repaint if you decide you don't like it. So I would definitely paint the other walls first and then buy a sample of the the mink and/or tricorn and put it on the wall. You mentioned that your husband is the one who wants to get the room painted now, rather than waiting until the furniture is in place. Is your husband the one who will be painting? Is he willing to redo it if you don't like it? Or are you both okay with paying to have a professional redo it? I recently did a bathroom and tried and rejected 2 samples, before settling on the color we did pick. I'm glad I went through that process and it was a much smaller wall. ivoire is actually lighter than blonde. on the paint card, it's navajo white, ivoire, blonde, restrained gold. in my townhouse we had one wall blonde and the rest navajo white. we've only done a sample on the wall in the new house, but i still like blonde for the new fam rm. i think jersey cream might be too yellow, and ivoire might be better. but i dont want to chance it, so i'm off to sw for more paint samples!

Oh yes you're right about the paint card. I remember now that we tried Blonde in the kitchen and decided to go one darker, to Restrained Gold. I have a quart of Blonde you can have if you're in the SF Bay area (South Bay).

aww, thanks, that's so sweet, but i'm on the east coast :) i just put up a sample of ivoire in the kitchen, and so far i'm liking it w/ our cabinets and granite... we'll see how it changes with the light.

Jersey Cream reads 'peach' to me. Especially a whole room of it. You are right about the orange tones.

Had my DH paint the den while I was in England and almost had a heart attack when I came home and saw the result!

Needless to say it was painted over. :)

I too was going for an ivory. Funny how that little swatch can fool your eye.

Ivoire has more yellow - it is in the yellow family. Jersey Cream is in the orange family, and it is a beautiful cream with an undertone of orange. Jersey cream is beautiful in a north facing room with low light.
