SW Believable Buff ??
Comments (5)DD has Believable Buff in her entire downstairs with each room fairly visible to each other. It is a very pretty neutral, but does take on a slight golden tone in a lot of natural light during the day. She has two sky-lights in her family room so it does look a little more golden. In the other rooms and at night it appears a nice soft neutral beige/tan. I truly think the small amount of golden undertone would actually look good with some oak. She doesn't have a lot of oak except for some dated end tables left over from their college days. Her nicer wood pieces that they have slowly picked up since college are a darker, warm toned wood and her wood floors are a true brown with no red tones. Her kitchen is white. Scroll down to Superchick's kitchen in the attached link - she has BB with oak cabinets. Comments (15)I have Whole Wheat in all the common areas of my house (we have a very open layout) and it only has a green cast to it in certain light at certain times of day. It is a gorgeous color, but perhaps in your house the lighting is such that it is appearing extra greenish. Before painting the Whole Wheat I had sampled Tobacco Road because I have been told that it is very similar to WW and CB (and there is a big following of that color on this forum)...I did like Tobacco Road but opted to use the Whole Wheat instead, simply because it is so difficult to get the paint stores to mix up Tobacco Road correctly because it is a discontinued Duron color. Being that I have so much wall space, I didn't want to risk using a color that I would not get consistent batches of. I agree with the person above who suggested Blonde. Ivoire is also nice. I have not personally tried those colors, but I have seen them in other people's homes and they are beautiful golden colors. You will find the correct color!...See MoreSomething between BM Wheeling Neutral and BM Powell Buff
Comments (2)For your samples.....go to Sherwin-Williams--they can match any color--and get a test quart. They're usually $5 per quart, but now through the end of the month, they're $3.75. If you get it at Duron (owned by S-W), you get actual paint-quality stuff (which the sample "jugs" aren't meant to be used as--won't hold up as long or something like that). I've bought 8 so far, and I see many more in the coming days.........See MoreWhat can I use with BM Subtle?
Comments (7)I have my 1 yo in my lap. Thanks for the help so far. I tried Shaker Beige, Carrington Beige, Bleeker beige, and Putnam Ivory (swatched) when we first moved in and both looked pretty rough. I forget why. Baby turtle is very brown when paired with our light and the blue slate floors. I did a lot of research but every sample pot seemed to be really off for me with the fixed elements we have (blue slate, seafoam carpet, medium-toned woodwork. Uggh...described that way it seems worse than it is LOL, but it really seems to make colors hard to choose!) Subtle would work great in my foyer, but I need to extend the paint up the stairs and into the upstairs hall (it would be tough to transition otherwise I think?). Upstairs it reads *yellow* vs. ivory because there isn't much natural light. So whatever I use downstairs (natural light) seems to look awful upstairs (primarily artificial light/darker overall, same bluey seafoamy green carpet). The greigey tones (which I love in other people's homes!) look not so hot with my medium toned woodwork, that must stay for now (DH rarely gets involved with decorating and he's not ready to say goodbye to the wood work yet. To be honest, I'm not 100% ready either). Ivory tusk looks good in both the foyer and upstairs but I wonder if it will look okay against the subtle in the visible adjoining room. Something seems a little off about it based on looking at the swatch and then looking into the next room. It seems very glowy and reflective in the foyer, which I like :)...See More- 14 years ago
