They were talking about the credit card security sleeves.How people can scan you card in less then a second and get you card numbers.

If you don't know anything about these like I didn't watch the video on the link.

I have always carried my credit card in a pretty metal cigarette holder. No I don't or ever have smoked.

I found the show very informative. Glad I watched it. I don't carry a credit card with me, but I do carry a debit card. Wonder if they can get those numbers with that gadget? Maybe I should wrap it in foil, just to be on the safe side.

While the lawyer's argument was good, I'm really getting tired of the "blame the other guy" mentality of today's society. When I was poor, I never ate out--you can fix healthy meals at home for less money. Sure, a cheeseburger for 99 cents is cheap, but how many people get just a cheeseburger--they certainly will get fries and a coke to go with it. That increases the price dramatically (not to mention the health risks). It's no secret that fast food chains make their profits on sodas. Unfortunately, too many people today are too lazy to cook. My son's widow and my stepson's wife do not know how to cook. Their mothers didn't cook. The kids have been raised on fast food. To me, that's akin to child abuse or neglect. It's very sad. Back to Harry's Law...I like the series more each time I watch it. The writers are very good, and Kathy Bates is great.

WoW!!! This has really taken a negative direction between two of KT's finest! Well, I'm not here alot but I think I gotta chime in! What I have to say maybe nothing more than rambling..be forewarned! LOL!! The age old battle of losing weight. I'M AN EXPERT at trying!!! I don't have a clue what it's like to have only 5-10 lbs. to lose. Nope it's a whole lot more than that. So, I can't identify with Flamey. I don't know what it's like to lose 150 lbs., so I can't identify with Granlan either(I honestly wish I could).But I can identify with Gran on this. I also know peeps that will spit and sputter about 5-10 lbs. just to fish for compliments and those peeps after about the second time, will fall off my radar screen. I don't think Flamey was doing that or rubbing this in anyone's nose. If she feels comfortable weighing 5-10 lbs. less, then that is her choice. I think her original point was just letting others know about this TV show and discussing it. Yet on the other hand Gran, I don't think anyone here including myself know how hard you worked and the determination it took to achieve what you did. I too kind of think that the peeps that have 5-10 lbs. to lose, aren't struggling half as much as those of us who have 100 or more lbs. to lose. Heck, half of their excess could even be the dreaded 'water weight' that we all know and have heard about. But there again, I have never been in their shoes. But they also have never been in the situation of having to lose a vast amount of weight. So, I honestly think nobody knows the others personal challenges and battles they are fighting. What one sees as a mere drop in the bucket, someone else might see it as insurmountable. But my words to Flamey and others, realize that Gran and I and possibly others do think that sometimes thin people just don't seem to understand that 5-10 lbs. does sound petty to those of us who have/need to lose 10 times that. And yes, I would bet that those of us who do need to lose that amount of weight have kicked ourselves many times over for not dealing with this when it was only 5-10 lbs. We have beaten ourselves up over this time and time again and anybody who looks at us know we need to lose weight, yet looking at Flamey, we can't see that through the same eyes as you do. We can't comprehend the magnitude of their obsession with those few lbs. So, Gran, I can identify and understand what you meant in your original post to Flamey.

It's a drama, so some characters were a little 'larger than life', but the issues were true to the time. The objectification of women was accurately portrayed from the beginning right through to the end. A female was believed to be working -- in the typing pool, as a nurse, whatever -- only to be in proximity to marriageable men, until she 'landed one'. The 'girls' in "Mad Men" even dressed the part. The character 'Megan' was the epitome of a shallow girl trading on her beauty as 'an actress', unaware that it was her only 'talent'.

Sorry I missed that one. Thieves are sure getting more and more clever. My son just had a $14,000 fraudulent charge on his card. Fortunately his card allows you to set up email alerts when charges over a certain amount are made. He got an email and knew he had not made the purchase. He immediately called the cc company who then stopped the card, but could not stop that transaction. It was made at a large electric supply company in another state. My son called the company (just because he's a nice guy)to let them know. The order had not yet been shipped and they were able to stop it, saving themselves all that money.

The CC company does not alert the vendors, who are the ones who ultimately lose money.

Someone should manufacture purses and wallets that cannot be "seen through". I bet that is coming.

Dedtired: They already do make such wallets. Just google "blocking wallet" and some will come up. Or "RFID blocking wallet" -- stands for radio frequency identification.

There are also special card sleeves you can buy.

I've seen the metal card holders (which I think were designed for fashion's sake, not security, since I started seeing those years ago). I'd always wondered why somebody would want to carry a metal wallet, but now I know!

Supposedly wrapping a card in foil is not foolproof, since there are different levels of skimming technology out there.

I have loved the site below....bought dumb stuff on it for years. The descriptions of items are as crazy as half their stock. They used to have a huge catalog before internet buying and have a store in the east somewhere. I'd love digging through there.

Saw the metal wallet on there a couple of months ago and wondered what it would be used for. Now I know, even though they mentioned RFID. May buy one.

I also wondered whatever happened to the status of RFIDs on products. There was an article about these explaining their being attached to products and when you buy something all of your info is gathered by the manufacturer. They are little plastic rectangular bar codes glued to the package, separate from a box imprinted bar code.
