Prayers needed for my sister

As I've seen many times over, the results of Kitchen Table prayers can be tremendous. I just found out today that my next oldest sister, the one who has lung cancer, has been in pretty bad shape this past couple of weeks.

My niece (her oldest daughter) sent this update today:

"She has been in and out of the hospital a couple of times in the last few weeks. She was to have a biopsy done about 3 weeks ago. They went in laproscopically and it turned out that the spot was too large to biopsy that way. They came out and ask dad if they could go in with a 12 inch incision and do what they needed to do. He said no. Mom would have been very upset to wake up and find out they had done that. A couple years ago when she had that partial lung removed it took her about 6 months to heal from that. She isn't even as strong now as she was then. anyway...they sealed her up and brought her home with a big oxygen machine that she is hooked up to 24/7. The oxygen is causing her phlem to thicken to the point where it was gagging her until she would vomit. So dad took her back to the hospital where they kept her more than a week to try to get that straightened out. They also found that she was running a low grade temp (she said that's been going on for quite a while) they ran some tests and found a bacterial infection in her lung. So now she is on antibiotics for that and could be taking them long term. She is pretty much sitting in her chair and coughing up 'stuff'. We (kids) have been taking turns making sure someone is there most weekends. Dad is really struggling keeping a handle on everything"

Please pray for her and for all of her family, including her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and maybe a little bit for all of us sisters too.

I wrote this message yesterday and I forgot to press send it!! I think is understandable with all this things going on around me and the shooting at Ft. Hood. As I write this I turned on the TV on CNN and they are talking about a shooting at an office in Orlando !! 8 people shot and the shooter is on the loose. When all this madness will stop? Thanks everyone for encouragement. I really need it. I am so stressed out about my sister situation, my surgery and when I came home tonight I heard about Ft Hood shooting, Lucy's scare and all those poor soldiers who's life was cut short. I do not want any more stress and worries for a while !!! Lucy, my sister is 6 years younger than me and she is the youngest of the 4 of us (3 sisters and one brother). Joyce, I haen't been doing much reading on this side and this morning I just happened to reread your post. Sorry to hear of your sisters passing. My brother is still with us. After a near death night spent with me staying with my sister in law and the Hos pice nurse and family not being able to get him to respond he woke up 13 hours later just fine or as fine as he can be in his situation. When the hospice nurse Jeff stopped in yesterday expecting to see Larry with a high heart rate and low blood pressure and still in the same shape which was reported the night before, Larry asked him when the end might come and Jeff answered "Who knows with you"!!!! LOL All his vitals were fine. Today he is out viewing the countryside with two old friends!! We are so thankful to still have him with us. He wanted to live to see his grandsons play football and their seasons are almost finished. This is a very fragel thin person who needs help walking part of the time. Beautiful sentiments New Dawn! Thank you so much. Rose, thanks for sharing the story & for your continued positive thoughts. Peggy is home! She was discharged yesterday afternoon, got home around 4:00. She is very, very happy to be in her own house again. We visited Saturday, Sunday, & Monday. Monday's visit was at her house. When we arrived, a guy was just finishing setting up an oxygen tank for her, making sure she had plenty of length to her tube so she could walk the distance of most of the first floor. Shortly after the guy left, her dh & my dh went out to get a prescription filled and picked up a few groceries. I was glad that we were there so Peggy wasn't alone right away when her dh went out to the store. Don't know how long she'll be on oxygen, but the doc is saying a week or two right now. I'm sure they'll be playing it by ear. I think she is most concerned about her lung. With time I truly believe she will adapt to this though. Our niece & her dh will be over to bring Peggy dinner tonight. They both cook very well, and my nephew loves to cook. He was thinking days ago about all the things he wants to fix for them. Tonight will be enchiladas. I told him he must bake some of his famous lemon squares for them at some point. They are out of this world! The home care nurse, Nan, will be over today too, & Peggy's dh be home, so she will be well-attended to today. Recovery is off to a good start.

Prayers your way. Maybe the infection was part of the spot they saw and will be able to do the biopsy when it clears up. I'll be praying for that and for the whole family.

Thank you all. I forgot to tell you my sister's name. When you are offering prayers, they are for Phyllis. She has been so upbeat and positive during this fight with lung cancer (for the past 3 years or so) but she's having a very hard time right now. I think she's afraid of the unknown, for the first time. I know your prayers and the prayers of many others are surrounding her and that they are helping her.
