Baby girl quilt finished - picture heavy

This is for a friends shower on Sunday - I wanted to show off all the blocks so there is lots of pictures. I purchased the blocks at a garage sale and love them : ) The backing is bright yellow fleece.

I still need to put a label on it and iron but I am pleased with how it turned out.

Marie, your quilt is charming. What an incredible find. Are the blocks machine embroidered? You did a great job of tying them all together with the soft pink sashing. Very sweet. Lois

So far I have only done meandering, loops and curlicues, and the shapes with the stippling in them. I have one in the frame now I think I will try something different on the borders. I did do some writing on one for a friend of mine. I can't say I am really good at anything yet, but it certainly is soooo much easier than my trying to stuff the quilt through my old machine. beverly

Anita, thread sort of depends on the machine and what it runs best with. My FMQ machine is really fussy and I still struggle to find what to use. I use all cotton as a rule. But, on this one I used Bottomline by Superior in the bobbin. It is finer than most and you get more on the bobbin. I think it's polyester. On top I used plain cotton, cone says Signature 40wt on it but often I use King Tut because my machine likes it best. I probably was out of the off white color that day. I really want my machine to use heavier cotton threads like 12 or 20 weight but still can't seem to get the settings right to keep it from breaking. I'll figure it out one day.

Susan, Your quilt is precious! I, too, like the animal print and think it adds just the right interest. Sorry for your loss. I remember that feeling of wanting to share things with my mom, too. It was a very long time before it wasn't my first thought when I had good news about children or grands. Now I just generally think how she would be pleased. Glad you are quilting again. :) They had an ultra sound last week and...... IT'S A GIRL!!! I also put in over an inch of batting since the little angel will be born in December and it has already started snowing here. Over a foot already and more coming tonight thru Wednesday :) Love this time of year - gives me an excuse to stay inside and quilt. LOL Marie

Yes they are machine embroidered and I only paid $10 for these and 2 other sets : )

Gotta love a good yard sale! LOL

Adorable! You got a wonderful find at the garage sale--$10 wouldn't even cover the cost of the embroidery thread. All the squares are just precious for a baby quilt!

I would truly have a fit if I found those at a garage sale lol!!!!

They are very well embroidered and really cute designs. The gorgeous designs alone would cost much more than you paid for everything.

Beautiful quilt, I'm sure they will be very pleased.

Hard to beleive those blocks were in a yard sale...incredible find, but more incredible in the quilt. It's adorable and very special!

You found those blocks at a yard sale? Wow! I believe that everything happens for a reason, and those blocks were simply waiting for you to come along! That's a great quilt, and you should be proud of it!
