How Was Your Day?

I hope your day went well. Mine was pretty good. Amber and I went to 3 rummages this morning. I spent all of $1.25. I got two hard back books and a 3 tiered cookie rack, metal. We picked up late breakfast at McDonald's and we each went home and ate. I puppy sat this afternoon with Harley and Angel while Amber went to the beauty shop. I also baked two ten inch pies, one strawberry rhubarb and the other a cherry. Plus I baked 3 pie shells, two ten inch and one 9 inch. I have given away half of the cherry and half of the strawberry rhubarb. For supper we had baked fish, macaroni and tomatoes, leftover green beans and the rest of the banana pudding.

My day went well as most days do since I keep improving in therapy. I spent the day doing laundry and putting away my travel things. Then I picked up things off the floor so the floor man can clean without moving the small things, like my silk plants, my sleeping armadillo, ornamental bird cage, etc..

I had a great day....After getting things in order this morning, I went to our volunteers luncheon at the local community college....Once a year they honor volunteers with a lunch and prizes...We had a very, very good lunch, cooked by the student chefs and just a fun filled afternoon....Tonight a neighbor called and asked if I wanted to go to a nursery for plants...So, for me, it's been great.....

Mine looked terrible until just the past couple of weeks. Recent rains have really helped. I fertilized lightly about 3 weeks ago and I think that has helped them rebound. I will be clearing out about 60 varieties...many newer... in mid to late Sept. I will be posting them on the Lily Auction, but will also have several for trade....for somethings OTHER than DL's. Another trick that I think has helped in a couple of beds: I installed a red-neck irrigation system. That is, I ran pvc from the washing machine to the beds. Cut slits in a ten foot piece for the water to escape through. It takes a little moving pvc pipe, but sure saves on the water bill.

My day was very productive. first, work. I was at a different school today. Still like the first one I was at the BEST. Then I drove to Edmond, and bought a storm door for my daughter. She had picked it out. It is her birthday present. Her dad is picking it up on Saturday and installing it for her. Next I went to her house, and dug out some of my plants that lived in her back yard. Imagine my mini cooper totally filled up with plants! That is what happened today. unfortunately I didn't take a picture :( But most are planted, and rain is happening right now. and the rest will go in as soon as it is good for digging again. :) One smelly bush, aka abelia monia, a red twig dogwood, several different dailillies, cannas, ajuga, lemon balm and strawberries. Granted it isn't the best time for transplanting... but you got to do, what you got to do. My daughter was trying to tell me, she wants to keep my smelly bush. LOL Oh, it became smelly bush, cause I bought it in Bartlesville, while I was still living in Tulsa. My friend Chris and I went. After the garden center we did lunch, and then had to drive all the way home with the windows open cause the smell was to much for us. It was have to, cause it had gotten cold... and we had the heat on high, to keep from getting to frozen. LOL, it has been the smelly bush ever since. So, good news is, I have plants. ;) and I showered, and cooked and ate dinner, and am online now. :) Moni

Elisabeth, what wonderful news. Your day was better than all the rest put together. I am very happy for you. Really, really happy for you and your family. Today was kind of crazy here. First I had the air conditioner tuned up. I bought a Groupon for $34 to pay for it. He showed up an hour early, so that was the end of my lazy morning. Of course, he discovered that the motor needs to be replaced for $1200! He said it can wait for awhile, and it will. I started cleaning the carport when the phone rang and the roofer was calling to say the dumpster was on its way. Yikes. Now I have a big dumpster sitting in the driveway. Work starts Monday. I am dreading it. My son came over and cut the grass for me, bless his heart. I called the dermatologist and changed my appointment. Too much going on at once here. Then I finished cleaning the carport and it looks pretty good for the moment. Now I am going to go read my book in bed and fall asleep!

I am back from Muncie. She only bought two butterfly koi. I didn't go in, I just sat in the SUV with the dogs. I sent a bunch of the "pork salad" and some of the barbecue home with Amber. I did freeze a shortening container of the barbecue, kept a bit out for us. I am finished for today. I just made my pork salad like plain chicken salad, cooked chopped up pork loin, some onion, celery, sweet pickles, hard boiled eggs, Miracle Whip and a bit of sugar to taste. I used my food processor to chop up stuff. Makes it so much easier than trying to do it by hand. Izzi is tired out. She had a busy day, keeping an eye on the other two dogs :) If the girls ask me to go, I will go with them. I can stay home when I get old! Ha, ha. Sue

Tireing, hot, exciting, scary. LOL! See the "morning" post about the hot and tireing parts. The exciting was seeing the campus that we (me and Alex) visited especially the space center. We both really liked the professor too, he was very excited about the program and the students. He is from Rome originally and still has his accent after all the years he's lived in the states. I told Alex that's the kind of teachers you need. He loves his job and astronomy, got really into talking about the stars, black holes and I asked him about the probe NASA sent out years ago, Voyager? I found out they sent out four of them...which I didn't know. One of their students discovered a new black hole while studying there.

I also never made it home in time to have some compost and mulch delivered. Now I have to find out if they deliver on Saturdays. I was hoping to get the rest of my garden planted this weekend.

Oh, and the scary part was Alex driving!!!! He needs a few more hours to get his license so I let him drive there and back. He does good most of the time, but still not great. He doesn't pay attention sometimes and it can be scary. Lauren is more of a daydreamer than Alex and I know I'm going to have to be on medication by the time she starts driving! LOL!

I'm on vacation until the 25th, and I got up at 6:00 and went for a walk. Then I did some stuff around here-laundry and stuff, until I had to leave to go to St. Catharines. I drove my daughter there, dropped her off at the hospital, as she had some tests scheduled. I went to an appt of my own, went to Wal Mart for things I need for the house there, and went back to the hospital to wait with DD's boyfriend to wait with her for the second test. Then I went to the grocery store, went home and made shepherd's pie for the men, walked the dogs, etc. Afterwards I cleaned up the dishes, and DH dragged me to Canadian Tire, and then we went to visit DD at her house. I am dead tired, because we've been doing so much work for the last two weeks. I think I'm going to bed now.

So I guess my day was busy, and tomorrow will be the same.
