Hey Glenda, I made your recipe/aka Paula Deen's. I added a quarter cup of butterscotch baking chips. Came out real good-chewy but firm,nice and sweet. I plan on wrapping a couple and taking them on a picnic tomorrow with my DH. Thanks for posting it!

Guess that's why Paula called them chewies :o)

I have made those for years and put chocolate chips in them.Got the recipe from my SIL and they were called Chewies.Wonder where Paula got hers?LOL

Here ya go! Sour Cream Banana Bread 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup oil 2 eggs 1 cup mashed bananas (2 medium) 1/2 cup sour cream 1 teaspoon vanilla 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt Preheat oven to 350F. Grease and flour bottom only of a 9 X 5 loaf pan. In large bowl, beat together sugar and oil. Add eggs, bananas, sour cream and vanilla, blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup, level off. Add flour, baking soda and salt, stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Pour into prepared pan. Bake at 350F for 50 to 60 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes. Remove from pan. Cool completely. Makes 1 loaf.

chocolate or blondie?

I normally prefer the blondies. I'm not a big chocolate fan normally. Occasional chocolate is fine.... except I have a weakness for my variation of Nathalie Dupree's "Mississippi Mud Bars" when I make the "Big Mistake" fudge frosting. I misread the recipe and it makes a great crumbly fudge frosting. Like a friend said one time "what is it? a piece of fudge on top of a brownie???" Well, yeah that's it exactly! The blondies I make are Franco Palumbo's Butterscotch Brownie recipe which is the same as above except he said to add 1/2 tsp of salt. Sometimes I'll put in butterscotch chips, vanilla chips or even chocolate chips. And I do gild the lily occasionally and top them with cashews when I want to reward myself for something... like being me?!

ravencajun, haven't you previously said you most often use tablets? I encounter more website problems on all kinds of sites with tablets (and we have both Android and iPad varities), and more consistently and frequently so, than I ever do with a PC. Maybe there is site-producing software that's more android/IOS friendly, and some that is less so? Or more Firefox friendly and less so for others? I know for my employer's website, you can't use Chrome. Don't even think of it. I've asked and they just suggest using anything other than Chrome. A few years ago, before they restructured (and re-coded?) the site, Chrome worked great but you couldn't use Firefox. Now, they've switched, Firefox works fine.

I wish I had seen the recipe - I made blondies last night too. The recipe called for chocolate chips, white chips and nuts but I don't use nuts anymore due to my son's allergies so I added some butterscotch chips. I'm not a fan of white chips or butterscotch chips so I wasn't crazy about them but hopefully my coworkers will like them.

I don't think any of Paula Deen's recipes are her original recipes. I can find them all in my vintage cookbooks but she certainly knows how to pick them. Well, I think her first couple of cookbooks were filled with old classics that she's been making for years. Now I think she's just making recipes that her team develops for her, at least that's the way it seems to me.
