What did I myself into- teaching classes....

A few months ago I was talking with my neighbor and I told her if you can sew a straight line you can sew a quilt..... Oh, I'll teach you. Well, guess what, she called me last night and is taking me up on it. This women knows NOTHING and I mean nothing about sewing. She is buying a sewing machine and asked me which one to buy. So, as you can see I'll have my work cut out for me. We are making a very easy pattern, just two strips sewn together and cut into small squares and then put together one of two ways, which ever she likes best. I'm having her buy one main fabric and six colors to go with it.

Well, I have another friend that doesn't sew but loves quilts and asks to see everything I make. I wonder as long as I have one new beginner should I ask the other one too?

I'm also having a class start here in September for my grandchildren and my young son to make the same quilt. These we are going to be for a homeschool art class. Ages 9 and two 11 year olds.

Anyone out there have any wisdom to share with me on where to start?
