Thanks everyone for you kind comments.My son loves it he also asked me LOL will it be as warm as his halloween quilt which he loves............He is also asking me about the backing because he said he loves the backing on the halloween quilt it is sooooooooo soft LOL! He also said he also likes it square and it worried if I round the top off it will make the quilt smaller........all I can say he is just going to have to be surprised LOL. Red

Bobby~your quilt turned out great! I agree tying or tacking, using one of your decorative stitches on your new sewing machine, would be perfect. I second what Teresa said, this quilt would be too frustrating for you to try free motion to quilt it, simply because of the size. About the border, your teacher was "teaching" you the right way to attach the borders. The pressed marks she had you do are guides to match to corresponding marks you make on the quilt top dividing it into quarters. You then 'ease in the difference' (like the lady had you do) between the the quarters, spreading or stretching as necessary throughout, so you end up with flat borders. It is more work, but you will be happy with the results- the easy way isn't always the best way when sewing :)(said very nicely). Your teacher sounds good, and her job is to annoy you with the right way, so you will be happy with the results. All that said - many people do it the easy way~LOL. When you wash your quilt, make sure to use Color Catchers - it concerns me that the dripping water from an iron is making some of your fabrics bleed. The Color catchers will keep those loose dyes from redepositing on your fabrics. You should be very proud of your quilt. I wondered if you gave up- I am so glad you kept working on it.

Anita, thread sort of depends on the machine and what it runs best with. My FMQ machine is really fussy and I still struggle to find what to use. I use all cotton as a rule. But, on this one I used Bottomline by Superior in the bobbin. It is finer than most and you get more on the bobbin. I think it's polyester. On top I used plain cotton, cone says Signature 40wt on it but often I use King Tut because my machine likes it best. I probably was out of the off white color that day. I really want my machine to use heavier cotton threads like 12 or 20 weight but still can't seem to get the settings right to keep it from breaking. I'll figure it out one day.

Thank you everyone. I am glad you can't see it up close and personal as there are more mistakes then you give me credit for. Other then that I couldn't have done it without all the lovily blocks from the 2 BD groups that I belonged to last year. That is the reason for the extra pillows and shams. Jayne
