Condo upgrades - color help needed

We are upgrading a condo (it is rented out nightly) and need to do some updates.

The carpet is a carmel (dark beige colour). The kitchen has white cabinets. We will be replacing the sofa/chair, dining table/chairs, new countertops and tiles.

For the kitchen was thinking to do slate (dark grey tiles). The backsplash is mostly white with a decorative bit that goes horizontal in yellow flowers. Thinking to replace the decorative bit with glass tiles in black/dark grey/light grey.

Does this work?? And what color sofa and paint for the walls. Everything needs to long wearing colours that don't show dirt too easily.

Seeing as this is a rental, do you have a budget? glass tile can be pricey...you may want to put less money in...not familiar with slate tile for a counter...can it be fragile? I would think durability is key in a rental. Perhaps formica/wilsonart might be a better choice....

I would stay with white and beige or brown to keep a consistent color story throughout the condo. If it's in the budget, I would install a quartz composite countertop, easy to clean and maintain, hard to damage.

Yeah I totally agree that we want to get it right the first time. And I can't do painting anymore, it's too hard on my body and I'm no spring chicken either. I have a painter that will do it . I have eliminated gray. This condo is too cave like because of the lack of natural light. I feel it needs yellow to bring the sun inside! Wall sconces will be a must have. I went back to Dunn Edwards today. I've decided to do a monochromatic color scheme using only 2 yellows. I'm still going to use Ivory charm #323 but I also wanted to add a deeper yellow to mix it up a little bit. Honey Nectar DET470 looked like the best deeper shade to Ivory Charm. I slapped some on the wall but with the dark colors the original owner has it's really hard to figure out what it's really going to look like. Tomorrow I will look at the honey nectar in daylight. I put a second coat on when it was dark. It might need to be cut it 25% or maybe more. Yellows can multiple in intensity more so than other colors. I did start a design dilemma and nobody has responded. It's under "please help me choose a yellow paint." I posted this on Saturday. If you go there you can see some of the photographs of the existing wall color. It's hideous so you've been warned.

First you install the new lighting I suggest all LEDs 4000K in all the fixtures in the whole space . Then you need to post what the flooring will be along with an explannation as to why painting the cabinets at all.. I happen to like sea salt but it depends on many things the ones I mentioned for sure .I do find sea salt a bit bluer than I like for more living spaces this is IMO a neutral that is not boring and works with almost everything . Having cabinets painted is an expensive job and honestly I think I would change the counter and leave the cabinets but i need to see the flooring for sure .

The slate tiles would be for the floor. The glass tiles are fairly inexpensive, and since that would just be used for the accent we won't need too much. We will do laminate for the counters.

But you think the decorative tile should be in browns? The dark grey would clash?

How open are the spaces to each other....if it's an open space then it's better to keep the colors consistent.

What colour for the decorative tile would you suggest?
Earth colour for sofa/chair?
For the counters we are thinking to do something dark to offset the white cabinets.

Pictures are so helpful. You have lots of gray in the stone on your fireplace so adding slate floor tiles to the kitchen, especially if they have some of the copper/brow streaks, would be a nice tie-in. I'm still a little hesitant about the glass accent tiles in any color. I think they look trendy and modern while your condo seems to lean more toward a rustic look. Perhaps you could find some tumbled slate accent tiles that would fit better with your overall design. I did a quick Internet search and have linked a page below for inspiration. I don't know anything about the specific site. Choose the counter top color after you decide on the backsplash. However, it's not a large space, so I would keep the counter color lighter. They don't have to be white, but maybe they could be sand, a lighter caramel than the carpet, or a light grey. That way they would provide some contrast to the white cabinets, but wouldn't weigh down the room.
