I think pink can be part of a sophisticated color scheme. Grey and pink and a touch of black and a bit of sparkling silver can come across as very grown-up, not little girly. So I think grey walls would be a good place to start. You will need to have a couple of touches of pink somewhere else in the room so that the carpet doesn't stand out as the only pink thing in the room. A pillow on the bed. A bit of pink in a patterned curtain. Your lamps. A throw. That way, the pink looks intentional and not as if you were stuck with carpet that you are trying to ignore. Some black would help to ground the room. A black nightstand or throw or picture frame or lamp or vase. Something silver and sparkling, like a mirrored nightstand or silver lamp or mirror or candlestick, to add light and sparkle. They sell all sorts of glass shades that would create a less girly look that the ruffled shades you have now on the ceiling fixture. Some are frosted glass that would help to hide the light bulbs a bit. There are also small bulbs that would be less noticeable. Adding drawer knobs to the dresser might help update it a bit. It can also be painted--you could try black or a silver leaf finish. The lamps could also be painted if you don't like the color, or they could be stenciled or otherwise decorated. Check out the Apartment Therapy website for a lot of tutorials on how to DIY changes like that. Also, look at how the furniture is arranged. Can you create a more adult room by adding a reading chair, side table and floor lamp? Putting the dresser into a closet so that the room looks more like a studio apartment than a bedroom? You should think about what would make this room a sanctuary for you, a place to rest and recharge. A chaise lounge? A recliner? A beautiful piece of artwork? Plan on one "splurge" item that will give you peace and joy at the end of the day. I'd paint the walls and then take your time finding things for the rest of the room, your accessories and window treatments. It could be a fun hunt for just the right thing, and a nice break from care-giving. I've attached one of my favorite inspiration photos. You can see how she took a somewhat bland beige carpet and incorporated it into a pink color scheme with some personal flair and sophistication.

Hello, original poster Adri here. Sorry I haven't been here in awhile and I lost my account info so I created this new account. Thanks for the replies. The bedroom actually looks a tiny bit better than the last photos. I hadn't painted behind the cabinets and if you look at the bottom where the carpet is, I hadn't finished those parts. I'll upload a new photo in the near future. TChat, I actually regret getting that art. I wish I got a framed art like the one someone creatively posted above in a mock up. Anyway, I got it from Walmart and it was crazy expensive (to me) https://www.walmart.com/ip/Eucalyptus-Canvas-Art-ACEE-24-x-48/168519484 for over $100 and that was for just the canvas. I needed to get a wood frame which cost another $20 and I had to stretch it and use a staple gun to attach it. I regret but it but I learned to be more patient since then.

Yes true... expensive is the safer route! i want to take a middle road though.. i m going to call the paint company who have been doing paints in this house for the previous owners .... they did the Venetian plaster so they would know ...they r also not the regular painters but high end :/ expensive ones .. but I will call them anyway to see what they can do about the paint. The window treatment I have looked into and it runs in thousands ... I seriously want to stay away from spending thousands on some plainish window treatment .. i would be happier if I could get away with keeping the curtains and spending the same money on a nice buffet for my dining or an expensive crystal chandelier .. what do you think is there any way I could keep them ? Or maybe go with a cheaper jcpenney type option?

I could probably write 3 pages worth of nonsense, which would seem "tainted" because I'm in the business of manufacturing hardwood flooring. But the short version is... over the years, we've provided hardwood flooring for a number of clients, and have NEVER had anyone comment that it was the wrong decision. The consensus USED to be that carpet was preferable, because it was "warm & soft", however the test of time has proven that wood flooring is: A} "environmentally friendly" (being a product of nature...) B} Provides excellent insulation C} Much easier to maintain than carpet D} With the little bit of care needed, it will outlast carpet for DECADES, and with a bit of attention to product appearance/choice, it will remain "in style" almost indefinitely. E} MOST importantly... hardwood flooring is a stable product, which will not "SHED" all of the nasty acrylic/nylon/petroleum based fibers into the air, which is what we BREATH... (that which isn't sucked up by the vacuum cleaner). Most people attribute "dusty furniture" to DIRT... when it's a known fact that DUST is mainly particulates which have been collected by, or shed by CARPET. Okay... I'm done! haha
