Coordinating colors between master bedroom and master bath
Comments (2)This must be a common dilemma. Our master bathroom has china black marble with carrara marble base cap. The walls are painted RL silver candle lite which is a pearl like silver. The cabinets are stained wood as is the window so there's a bit of warmth in the room. The master bedroom is going to be done in jewel tones with a RL gold candle lite ceiling. To help bring cold and warm together I used jewel tone towels in the bathroom....See MoreAge old question--carpet or hardwood in master bedroom?
Comments (20)Jij, Maybe sometimes, but I know I don't always pull up my scatter rugs to clean underneath as often as I should, and often find grit underneath. It's interesting as I don't have pads under any, and never ever are shoes worn in the house. I appreciate that I can throughly clean under my rugs. Also, I've had both and now I like only hard surfaces under beds because too much dust can accumulate very quickly. After vacuuming and or dust mopping hard surfaces, I can see that it is clean if I want to look. Editing to add: I don't want to give the impression that I rarely move and clean under my few small rugs and that I find piles of crap under them, LOL!...See MoreMaster Bedroom - starting over
Comments (62)I understand your window issue now. I'm not keen on bare windows for a bedroom either. I have simple white sheers with a blackout blind in mine. When the blind is open during the day, the sheers are there to filter the light and offer some privacy. I rarely open the sheers. How about a double rod for sheers and something more textural on top that could dress the window sides? Don't know if that option was suggested upthread but I don't see a picture for it. There is the roman blind with sheers option Irene posted. Perhaps you'd appreciate an in-home consultation? I know a few companies offer free window treatment estimates. There are all sorts of options that exist out there. You might want to see what the optimal option is for you and see what kind of chunk of change it would cost you before trying to navigate the ready-made options. The two curtains you linked to would look fabulous. I'm partial to hanging curtains with rings as shown in the first curtain pic you shared....See MoreCarpet versus wood floor in the master bedroom
Comments (52)I've copied & pasted a comment I made 20 minutes ago! haha Well... I could probably write 3 pages worth of nonsense, which would seem "tainted" because I'm in the business of manufacturing hardwood flooring. But the short version is... over the years, we've provided hardwood flooring for a number of clients, and have NEVER had anyone comment that it was the wrong decision. The consensus USED to be that carpet was preferable, because it was "warm & soft", however the test of time has proven that wood flooring is: A} "environmentally friendly" (being a product of nature...) B} Provides excellent insulation C} Much easier to maintain than carpet D} With the little bit of care needed, it will outlast carpet for DECADES, and with a bit of attention to product appearance/choice, it will remain "in style" almost indefinitely. E} MOST importantly... hardwood flooring is a stable product, which will not "SHED" all of the nasty acrylic/nylon/petroleum based fibers into the air, which is what we BREATH... (that which isn't sucked up by the vacuum cleaner). Most people attribute "dusty furniture" to DIRT... when it's a known fact that DUST is mainly particulates which have been collected by, or shed by CARPET. Okay... I'm done! haha...See Morelavender12145
