I think it really depends on what you buy but I agree that you see lots of them as outer wear. I wouldn't wear mine alone but I do wear them with a shirt over them. Camisoles, tank top, halter T's all the same really... I wear them just as you do, to control the girls when not wearing a bra.

Younger, in shape and fit girls - OK for outwear. Older and/or not so great of shape gals - underwear.

We had dinner this past week and my brother and his daughter joined us. She is probably 35ish and a beautiful girl, never married, very trim and slim, looks about 25 and she had on a long tiered skirt out of some kind of sheer cotton looking fabric and she had on two of the tanks. a coral one that matched her skirt over a black one and it looked very pretty.

I should have added in the previous post, I don't turn the girls loose in public, only around home and when I need to give my bit of scar tissue a rest. The lung surgery scar is right in the same spot that a bra rests on my chest.

Friend in her 80's wear them, hers are nylon and very pretty. She also wears the nylon leggins, to match.

At least during the winter, as we are next to eachother in the locker room, after water aerobics.

I use mine as outerwear. Ruthieg-I had the same problem with bra's hitting my scar from lung surgery so I stopped wearing bra's. The girls are not big enough to need one. I do think it depends on what they are made of & your size.

I have one camisole, it's lacy but not see-through. I wear it only under a blouse like a "dickey". It sticks out the top. I will wear it with or without a bra, as you can see by my description it is quite conservative.I am on the slim side and my breasts are unusually small, nearly flat.

Usually wear them under things, but if it ever gets really hot I will wear the one with the padded bras as tank tops. But only if they have the padded bra built in. I don't like it when you can see the nipple. My bras are all padded, too, to avoid seeing that through t-shirts.

I saw a woman the other day maybe in her 50s, wearing a tank top that was clingy, no bra, nipples almost to her waist. Not an attractive visual.

That's exactly what I would look like except thanks to breast cancer lumpectomy's, one would be near my waist and the other 4 inches shorter/smaller...

I used to think brassiere straps were underwear too, but the times have proven me wrong... I've even seen straps sold separately as an accessory to change to something else.

I don't like seeing bra straps showing at all. Even when they are clean.....especially when they're dirty!

I don't get the spaghetti strap tank with bra band and straps showing.
