Cream cheese stuffed jalapeno popper dip?

I'm getting kind of burned out on the Bloomin' Onion Dip I usually dip them in.

We use Ranch Dressing. But oh, do I love my Poppers.

I figure the dip is already on the inside. I eat them without dip.

Who long are you cooking them in the microwave? Breads are really hard to nuke. The gluten in breads is the cause. When I nuke my egg 'McMuffins', if left too long the bread based English muffin is very chewy like a bagel. It may be your nuking for too long a time. I have a 1000 watt microwave and for frozen veggies like a 2 cup portion of green beans, I nuke for about 4 minutes, then drain out a 1/4 cup or more of their water! For weight watchers, use the fat free or 1/3 less fat cheese. Also Panko bread crumbs are great to use. 'Roasting' the term, isn't a good one for microwaved foods. Roasting is usually a method that has heat applied to a food by means of a heat source. Microwaves don't have this, but instead use ultra high frequency radio waves about 1/4 of an inch long. They pass through foods and vibrate their molecules and this causes friction which gives you heat. Fats and sugar are very low in moisture content, so they can heat up hotter than 212 degrees, which is the boiling pot of water. Once an item has boiled out all of its water, the rest of it becomes very dry, tough and not very appetizing. Keep in mind a 30 minute cooking time in a conventinal oven equates to only about 3 minutes in a micrwave. Every minute its left in a microwave, will do about the same thing as about 10 minutes in a regular oven. If you ooking for a high melting point cheddar cheese hat has been finely diced, its avaiable from one of the sausage making supplies web sites. Is great in sausages as it does all leak out while they cook. Oh, before I forget, and not go too far off topic. I make fresh breakfast sausage links. These are frozen. When I want some cooked, they are placed on several layers of paper towels and are nuked at only 2.5 minutes. They are very well cooked by that time. The same thing done in a frying pan would take at least 10 minutes.

I ended up going with a chicken piccata. It was okay. I think I had too many browned bits (maybe they were too browned) or maybe it was the the rind in the lemon - the sauce was rather on the bitter side, unfortunately. My husband also came home with a $12 pie that was disappointing also from a bakery in the "high end" part of the city. A bunch of fruit, fresh/dried, poorly combined, too much cornstarch and underbaked crust. I really wanted a good food night, sigh, there's always tomorrow.

This is a recipe I make often. It is good served at room temp if they last that long. I double the recipe, and omit the salsa. Crescent Poppers 4 ea jalapeno chiles (about 3 inches long) 1/3 cup boursin spreadable cheese with garlic and herbs (from 5.2 ounce container) 8 slices packaged pre-cooked shortcut bacon (from 2.2 ounce package, halved) 1 (8 ounce) can refrigerated crescent dinner rolls 1/2 cup pineapple salsa (optional) or fruit salsa (optional) 1. Heat oven to 375 degrees F. 2. Carefully remove stems from chiles; cut each in half lengthwise and again horizontally to make 4 pieces. 3. Remove and discard seeds. 4. Spoon about 1 teaspoon cheese into each chile quarter. 5. Wrap half slice of bacon around each. 6. On cutting board, unroll dough; separate dough into 8 triangles. 7. From center of longest side to opposite point, cut each triangle in half, making 16 triangles. 8. Place chile, cheese side down, on dough triangle. 9. Fold 1 point of triangle over filling; fold 2 remaining points over first point. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet. Serve with salsa, if desired.

I haven't made this yet, but it sounds good! I'd only add the 4 oz. of jalapenos for us, though.

JALAPENO POPPER DIP
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese (room temperature)
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup cheddar cheese (grated)
1/2 cup parmigiano reggiano
1 (4 ounce) can sliced jalapenos
2 jalapeno peppers (chopped, optional)
1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
1/4 cup parmigiano reggiano

Mix the cream cheese, mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, parmigiano reggiano and jalapenos in a bowl and pour into a baking dish. Mix the panko bread crumbs and parmigiano reggiano and sprinkle over the dip. Bake in a 375F oven until bubbling on the sides and golden brown on top, about 10-20 minutes.

This is a good recipe for Jalepeno Popper Spread (from allrecipes.com - see link for reviews)

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)

* 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
* 1 cup mayonnaise
* 1 (4 ounce) can chopped green chilies, drained
* 2 ounces canned diced jalapeno peppers, drained
* 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

DIRECTIONS
1. Stir together cream cheese and mayonnaise in a large bowl until smooth. Stir in green chiles and jalapeno peppers. Pour mixture into a microwave safe serving dish, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
2. Microwave on High until hot, about 3 minutes.
I've made this a couple times and it is very good!

This sounds so yummy. Although I'm dog tired, I think I'm going to stop by the store and pick up the ingredients to make this.

I don't dip them in anything either.
For a change I'd wrap them in bacon...that is IF you make in the oven.

These are the breaded kind that you get in restaurants.
Home made poppers are cut in half, stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon. Yum! I'm going to try mixing crab with the cream cheese one of these days too.

Well, duh! I'd better take a remedial reading class, wildchild. I love nodakgal's bacon idea--then dip them in Gayle's ranch dip.
