Haven't for years!

Can't eat a sandwich with white bread.

Give me whole wheat or rye!

Just has the bestest BLT on wheat!

Plus milti grain sun chips!

Yumster.

Guess everyone is having bbq, right?

Give me soft,very fresh white bread anyday! Rolls warm from the oven with butter....heaven! I can eat wheat or the different "grain" breads but prefer white. And rye....oh my...never could eat that,just don't like it.
We're invited to the neighbors for a neighorhood B-B-Q.I'm taking "Orange Fluff" it's hot here and that will be so refreshing! Also taking Sun Tea,we're to take our own drinks.

No barbecue here Glenda! Just another Monday for us except that I'm remembering my sweet daddy today.He served in WW2.Was an aircraft mechanic and bombardier.

Clare, I have but only when it was a light sourdough, not one with a strong sour dough flavour. That wouldn't appeal to me. Annie1971, this is the recipe I used for the Chocolate Bread. We use Dutch-process cocoa instead of the more usual natural cocoa to give the bread a richer brown color. The yogurt shouldn't be a problem reacting with yeast. Yeast actually works best in a mildly acidic environment, which is why ascorbic acid is often mixed with dry yeast products. To improve the rise of breads containing wheat germ and whole wheat flour (which contains wheat germ), I always add an acid ingredient to counteract the gluten-damaging effects of glutathione in the wheat germ. Bacteria (in yogurt and also present in bread dough made without yogurt) produces those tasty acids in bread dough that improve the flavors of bread when we refrigerate it. The acidity already present in sourdough starters help sourdough breads keep longer, inhibit mold growth and also slows staling, and you'll see the same qualities in breads made with yogurt. -Grainlady

Bread... wonderful bread! OK, I admit it, I'm a carbman. Atkins be d@mned. This is one I used to make occasionally, but haven't for a while. You got me thinking about it again. It's so simple and simply delicious. One thing, as I recall it's pretty white, doesn't brown a crust like a normal loaf. But good with any meat/potatoes dish. BEER BATTER BREAD 3 cups flour 1-tablespoon baking powder 3 tablespoons sugar 1-teaspoon salt 1 (12 oz) beer @ room temp. 1/4 C melted unsalted butter, Preheat the oven to 375°F. In a mixing bowl, combine all the dry ingredients. Add the beer all at once, mixing as little as possible; the batter should be lumpy. Pour the batter into a 9"x5"x3" loaf pan and brush with the melted butter. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until an inserted skewer comes out clean. Cool on a rack. Makes 1 loaf. Recipe adapted from New Tastes from Texas And this one hasn't been tested, but considering my motto is anything's better with bacon!, can it be bad? Bacon Beer Bread 3/4 cup flat beer 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup chopped green onions 2 tablespoons prepared mustard 1 tablespoon softened butter 3 1/4 cups bread flour 1 tablespoon granulated sugar 3/4 teaspoon salt 1 3/4 teaspoons active dry yeast 1/3 cup crumbled cooked bacon Add ingredients to machine according to manufacturers directions. Select Basic White cycle. Add bacon at the beep. Makes one (1 1/2 pound) loaf. This is another favorite. Don't know if it's the same as linked before but I'll put it in anyway. Pepperoni Bread 1 C + 2 T water 2 T sugar 3 C bread flour 1-1/2 t garlic salt 2/3 C pepperoni slices chopped 1-1/2 T Italian seasoning 1/3 C mozzarella cheese 1-3/4 t yeast Add to breadmaker in order listed. When placing the pepperoni in, mix into the flour to coat the pepperoni. Use a basic white cycle and a dark crust for best results. Do not use timed cycle for this bread. When done, remove and cool on a rack. Heat some pizza sauce or tomato sauce mixed with garlic salt and Italian seasoning and use for dunking to serve as an appetizer. Its delicious toasted. Best if served warm (microwave is fine). Its like a loaf of pizza! I am a rhubarb fan and this year has been a terrible year for rhubarb around here. I haven't been able to make this and it makes me so sad, I enjoy this bread so. I modified the original recipe(s) a bit and added cinnamon. I like cinnamon. And I prefer brown sugar to white sugar for this. Rhubarb Bread Bread: 1 1/2 C Packed Brown Sugar 1/2 C Nuts (optional - I prefer without the nuts) 2/3 C Oil 1 Egg 1 C Sour Milk or Buttermilk 1 t Baking Soda Pinch of Salt (up to 1 t) 1 t Vanilla 2 1/2 C flour (up to 2 T more) 1 1/2 C Rhubarb Topping: 1/2 C Sugar (I use Brown Sugar) 1 T Butter Cinnamon (as much as you like - I like a lot) Coat the chopped rhubarb with a little sugar to help keep it suspended in the batter. Mix in order given and pour into two well-greased and floured tins. Sprinkle the topping over the top of raw dough. Bake at 350° for 55-60 minutes.

I am not a fan of WW. I tried it a few years ago when the points plus program was new. At the end of 4 months tracking my points,exercising and going to the ridiculous(in my opinion, I know they help some people) meetings, I had gained 6 pounds and was hungry and cranky all the time. I am glad my employer paid for the program fully,or I would have been much crankier. While a lot of people in my work group lost weight (mostly the men go figure) I went back to the weight loss clinic,started the lipo shots and low carb life again, and the weight is coming off and I feel much better. ( I will admit that I believe the fact that I pay for the shots and weigh everytime I go get one helps me stay on the program, but at least with low carb, I know I can maintain it forever because I am not starving all day and going to bed with headaches and a empty,growling tummy like I was on ww) WW is kidding themselves. There are too many free apps and websites that will calculate how many calories you should have to lose weight and help people track them. When I did it, I found a free app that calculated how many points I could have and helped me track them for free. It was dead on with the numbers WW gave me. There are a few paid apps with more features, but they are still much cheaper than ww.To me, the only thing about WW that may help better than doing it on your own is the weigh ins and meetings that offer support and accountability, although one can find those for free at any number of venues. And even those are going away since they started the online program, so im not sure of the advantage anymore.And as for Oprahs joyous celebration of carby delights, i cant relate and wont be lured in. I can't have bread,and frankly don't miss it or rice or pasta,but I can eat all the cheese I want...I EAT CHEESE EVERYDAY OPRAH! SUCK ON THAT! And for me, low carb eating means I eat less calories as well, as all the fat and protein is very satisfying and sticks for a long time, so I don't want to eat all day like I did on ww. I can't fathom having to watch and measure and weigh everything and count points for all eternity,even after reaching your target weight. Also, it seems there is no wiggle room in ww. One day a week I allow myself to eat whatever I want,which is not really a nod to indulgence as it is to convenience. Since the big Atkins craze is long over, it's much harder to find tasty low carb food to grab and eat, so I find myself cooking most of my meals. And I usually have to cook 2 separate meals or at least 2 variations on a meal since SO is 6 foot 5 and weighs 175 pounds and has no intention of cutting carbs or anything else. So that one day allows me to just go to a restaurant or cook whatever without worrying about customizing or rearranging or remaking anything. I don't think even Oprah can save ww now.

Me neither, Glenda. Give me "real" bread, made with real whole grains, the grainer the better. I try to get whole grain "buns" and "rolls," too.

I should just break down and bake my own.

I bake most of my own bread, and the whole grainier the better. The ONLY thing I like white bread for is making the first couple of "mater" sammiches in summer. With lots of mayo !! After the first few, then back to the whole grain bread even with home grown "maters".

I love white bread! The really soft stuff! They have a white whole grain bread up here and its like eating cardboard! LOL
DH likes the whole wheat, whole grain crud! ;)

I normally eat 100% whole wheat bread, but I *love* crusty baguettes from the local French bakery. The bakers studied in France, and it's like being in Paris to eat their bread.

Me either Glenda,then again i'm not a big bread person at all.But when i do have bread i want either extra sour,sour dough,or seedless rye,multi grains.MY dh on the other hand goes thru more than a loaf of White bread a week,and unless he's having a sandwich,he doesn't put anything on it.YUK!

If it has yeast in it, let me at it. I love bread. Lately I've been eating Pepperidge Farm Harvest 7 Grain. It makes the best toast. But it's got to be white for BLT's.

Forgot to answer the bread question.I rarely eat bread but I like both depending on the circumstance.I always liked whole wheat but DH wouldn't touch it.He has 2 pieces of toast every morning and eats sandwiches often .When we found we were bordering on diabetic I started buying the Natures Own honey wheat and told DH he had to eat it or no bread at all.LOL Now that is all he will eat.As I said,I rarely eat bread but for PB&J or country gravy and bread it's white.Anything else is wheat.Took me a while but I can eat BLT on toasted wheat but prefer it on white (also toasted) with lots of Miracle Whip.

We like the Artisan Italian from Safeway or Breadsmith French Peasant breads. Also like the Rosemary Bread from Costco bakery.

In our house soft white bread (like the old Wonder Bread) is known as Duck Bread -- only fit for feeding to ducks in the park. (I know it's not good for them, but as kids we did it.)

When my colon is giving me fits, I have to quit eating my usual wheat bread and can eat only white for a while..I don't mind it.

And no BBQ for me today..had some chicken tho.

I seldom buy bread, but make my own in the bread machine and bake it in the oven. Usually, it's white, but do branch out to the coarser kinds.

I tend to stay away from breads.
Hamburger is generally eaten without bread, same as hot dogs.

But do indulge in good ole southern cornbread at my favorite restaurant, cause theirs is the bestest.

I love cornread, but don't eat it often. But some days you just have to have it. You know what I mean? Especially if you eat white beans or black eye peas with ham. YUM.

I can't eat Miracle Whip at all on anything. I just can't seem to get the hang of eating mayo full of sugar. That's what it tastes like to my tongue. Strange aren't I? LOL

I have a tomato I have been watching. It is about 3" across and green as a Granny Smith Apple, but soon, soon, it will be red and in between two slices of white bread, salt and peppered with lots of mayo. I am counting the days !!

I like sourdough bread. And I only eat white bread usually. Hate rye, but will eat light rye on a Ruben sandwich.

I love sourdough bread. Heck, I like Rye and any tasty bread. I usually stick to Whole Wheat Sugar-Free Bread. (Diabetes). But, I can dream.

I like any bread...MzPiggy that I am but...I love the whole grains. There was a time when I just couldn't eat them at all because I ate white my whole life but I knew the whole grain was so much better and now...eating white bread is a mamby pamby taste. I love any artisan bread and I make a lot of my own breads..
