That just happened to me today..

I thought I was in some-kind of violation of policy.

The only other way that I know would be to save to your computer .

I embedded one from photobucket today, but couldn't load one directly from my computer yesterday. Maybe GW is having problems?

You have to upload your photo to a hosting site like Photobucket. Once you do that, Photobucket will give you the HTML code to copy and paste to this site.

After you upload your photo to Photobucket, go to your Library and hover your mouse in the upper right corner of the photo you want. A gear pull down menu will appear. Choose "Get Links", then "HTML". Copy and paste the HTML in the Message box here, and your photo will show up.

What I think we are saying is that we use to be able to direct link via
img src=.
Now it seems that we either have to save to computer or use a hosting site.

Also ...I couldn't even put the symbol around the img src= (without image info ) or it would not show up.

forboystoo - Exactly. Logging on to photobucket, loading the pic and then pasting it to your gardenweb post is a pain. I loved using img src. All you have to do is copy the jpg address on to your post and add a few characters.

I don't seem to have a problem at all... copying an image to your own site and then linking it may be a violation of copyright....img src is the better way of doing it.

I was having problems w/this for over a month. GW Tamara worked with me and couldn't figure it out or replicate the problem. I use Firefox and finally discovered I can post if I switch to Safari (I am on a Mac). If you are using Firefox, try another browser and see if it works.

Hmm...did you figure it out? I'd like to know. I can post them in a message, they show in preview and then they don't show up in my posts. There is always a bunch of quote marks that have been added, not by me, when I try the edit function to see what's happened. If I take out the quote marks, it shows again in preview, but won't post and re-adds the quote marks. I gave up.

Chrome has no issues. But, y'all double check your copy/paste of the image location. GW has been interjecting blank spaces in some weblinks that are pasted, so I think that might be everyone's issue, no matter what the browser.

I don't have problems with pics from Houzz, because they embed their own code to copy and paste. It's the other photos from websites - and I don't get any blank spaces added by GW - what I get is a bunch of quotation marks that appear in the code, both at the beginning, the middle and end of the link, so the photo doesn't appear. I swear it worked once from Safari, but I guess I was wrong or it's now not working. I wonder if it's from adblock or ghostery that goofs it up? Maybe I'll contact them and see what they say. (or disable them and try again).

because I disabled it and it still didn't work.

As mentioned above, the Image shows up in preview but not in post. When I go back and look at the post, there are characters added to what I typed.

I use Chrome and have trouble too. Not with every site, though. I don't know if it's GW or whether more web sites are getting more restrictive about hot linking to their images.

Haha! Mine went out a month ago, no posting with Picasa but it was okay with Photobucket (or another website's photos). Tamara tried to fix it--she could post the exact same image info as me and it worked for her...but now...

Maybe it'll get fixed now that it's not just me. :P

I use safari on a mac...no issues.

awm03, I've had the same trouble with 'img src=', and the same thought about restrictions.

Does anyone know why the image shows in preview, but not after the message is submitted?

AnnieD - what was the source of your pic? I'm trying to figure out why I can post Houzz photos but not from other websites with Safari. Thanks.
