Elizabeth Edward's is a classy lady. We saw part of the interview on the news.

Oprah, on the other hand, looked like she had just crawled either out of bed or out from under a rock. She looks terrible! Guess her makeup lady had the day off.

I was sympathetic at first but the more she talked the weirder it seemed to me. There's one angry woman behind that "forgiveness" and "protect my family" talk. Not that I blame her. I'd want to rip his eyes out, but she'd really making him pay big time with the book and interviews. I think they should just call it quits and go their separate ways. I sure wouldn't want him around. Guess there's no money in that, though.

I came away with the same sad feeling about Elizabeth Edwards. She is in my opinion much to good for that man. I could MAYBE understand her wanting to give it another shot after his "one time only" confession, but after the rest came out I'm not convinced that the rest of it really is the rest of it. Anyway that would be it for me! Perhaps with her health situation she has to look at it differently for her childrens sake. So sad....
And SamKaren, I had the exact same thought about Oprah. She looked.... like she probably looks in the morning before her miracle workers do their thing. She also looks much heavier the ever before.

I don't watch Oprah anymore. I really can't stand her but I did want to see Elizabeth Edwards. I caught the last 15 minutes. She must be a strong woman. I agree Karen - Oprah looks terrible and has for awhile now. I hate her straight hair and what's with the no makeup.

I really feel sorry for Elizabeth. I think the only reason she is staying with that scumbag is because she is terminally ill. It probably gives the children a sense of security since they will be living with him after she dies. She also mentioned in the interview that she doesn't want to spend her remaining time fighting. It would be a really nasty divorce if she decided to end the marriage. I have lost all respect for John.

I watched part of it. She is probably writing the book as a theraputic thing for herself. I imagine it would be very healing getting it all out in the open. I agree with Linda that she is probably staying with him since she is terminally ill.

I hadn't watched Oprah for a long time, so I too was shocked by her appearance. I think the Hypothyroidism is taking it's toll. I have it too and I know I was looking like cr*p at my worst. I don't know that she is on any replacement hormones yet, but I think she needs them.

I agree with many of the comments, but I was most impressed by the wisdom she expressed; her expected early death most likely has made her able to look at every day as a gift...and wisely, what good would it do to spend their remaining days dealing with rancor and ugliness. I think, too, that "life" has many "tests", and I wish that I could be such a strong and wise woman. Nanny

I watched the first 15 minutes then turned it off, it was too embarrassing to watch. I'm not sure why she would go on Oprah's show and air her personal anguish. Unless she wants to punish him, as someone said.

What nobody mentions is the fact that taking fertility drugs increases your chance for breast cancer. And she went through that in order to have those children for him. Who would want children at 49 and 51? I think she felt obligated because she is older than he is and maybe thought he would have an affair with fertile younger woman (which is what he did, anyway) if she didn't.

I have no respect for him.

Did anyone watch Oprah today? For those who commented on her appearance, she said she went into work this morning and had a smack-down with her hair and make-up people. LOL!

I feel so sorry for her. She has two big problems, one a lot bigger than the other--her health.

And to think that man wanted to run for President. Horrors!

I never watch TV in the day time and wanted to see this but forgot. I saw the clips and wondered why she did it. I think she is staying with him for the childrens' sake. I also thought that her cancer could have come from all the fertility treatments she had to have kids for him. I agree, who would want to at over 50 after already doing that twice when she was young. I pity her and have NO respect for him at all.

I think she is just trying to keep her last months or years free of anger and resentment for the sake of her children. That and the fact that she has nearly 30 years invested in the marriage. She loves the guy although he is a scum bag.

I can't imagine buying the book because I think we pretty much know everything that is in it, but maybe she is hoping to make some money from it to put in trust for her children. I think what he has is going to be going to lawyers, esp. now when they are checking the use of his political finances.
