where did you buy your sinks online? need recommendation

It is time for me to order sinks. I was all set to order from qualitybath.com but there is a notice on their website about it not being available until Sat PM. I came across the same notice on another site. Now I am leery to wait for them to reopen the site and think I should order from another vendor.

Please help me by recommending online sources you have been pleased with. I plan to order several blanco sinks.

I bought 2 silgranit sinks from homeandstone. The service was great and they were packed amazingly well. The large one had expanding foam in it -- the cabinet installer was amazed when we unpacked it!

Homeandstone always closes for Sabbath -- nothing to worry about. They'll take your order on Sunday. I ordered from them because of other good reviews I saw on GW and was completely satisfied with the transaction.

If you decide to go with them, google homeandstone.com coupons -- might save you a few $$.

Linda, What kind of sink are you looking for? You are in SOMD too right? I bought a Elkay double bowl undermount SS and then ended up going with a soapstone sink instead. It's in my garage, new in the box and I want to sell it cheaply and just get rid of it! If you're interested send me a msg on my email at swlesmis@hotmail and I can give you more details. I forgot about this thread. Mersi, no, my vanilla orchid never bloomed..I wish. I had two, green and variegated..the var went to plant heaven. I could blame it on the seller, but it was my fault..except I still don't know where I went wrong..lol The green is once again a small plant..It grew huge, over 10'..Somehow, the stems tangled..it was like unraveling Christmas lights that have been tossed in a box w/o organizing. It got a haircut about a year ago. Cuttings never rooted..boohoo. Marcsi, you've never heard of Gardenwatchdog? Wow..It's too bad everyone who grows/buys plants wasn't aware of this site. It's great for two reasons..The first is if someone wants to order from 'x' nursery, they check GWD, and read feedback. The second is, it's a good way finding a nursery. BUT, there is a negative side, too. Over the years I've talked to a few nursery owners. They're very nice people, have to take lots of cr*p when it comes to the public. One woman ordered 2 plants from 'x' nusery. One was a backorder so when she opened the box, found one plant missing, she went balistic. She phoned the owner at midnight, again 4am..she admitted, on GWD, calling his home at midnight. She hesitated mentioning the 4am call though.. To top it off, she left negative feedback. If someone doesn't get exactly what they think they're going to get, instead of contacting the owner they run to GWD, rant and rave what a terrible nursery they ordered from, warn people away. I've ordered from nurseries some complained about and never had any problems. One man ships bare-root plants..it's written in plain English..still some complain the print isn't large enough, or it doesn't offer a good-enough description. The seller even displays pics/sizes of what to expect..lol How much more can anyone do? So, all it takes is one person to get the ball rolling, and others tend to follow. But I do enjoy reading GWD and have found several decent nurseries. Perhaps Logees has improved their stock. If they haven't, the only reason they could be getting positive feedback, and I dread saying this is, people who have been shopping with them for years may feel dedicated, or ppl who just starting buying plants, who never shopped elsewhere, have nothing to compare to, perhaps feel a 3" plant is sufficient, especially if they believe it rare. I feel bad talking down about Logees, but after paying high costs to receive dead or tiny plants, if someone asked where to shop, I c/wouldn't refer them. Toni

Clare, I also got many of my jars from elderly friends who don't can any more. I take them bread and homemade jam and they are glad their jars found a happy home! I used to get them at Goodwill and 2nd hand shops but canning has become much more popular the past few yars and someone always beats me to it since I'm at work all day and can only make it to the stores on weekends or evenings. Walmart is the most expensive place here, I do find jars sometimes at Menard's and Big Lots, usually the Golden Harvest brand at Big Lots and they are always quite a lot cheaper than Walmart is. Since my local True Value hardware store is just a few blocks from the house and everything else is a minimum of 60 miles round trip, it's a lot cheaper to pay a couple of dollars extra and save the gas, plus the owner is my neighbor, 3 houses down. I bought a Whitehaus fireclay sink from Bluebath.com (an ebay storefront, if you search Whitehaus on ebay you'll find it). It is 35" wide outside dimensions with an 8" bowl (I have the garburetor on this side) and a 24" bowl. I paid under $600 for it. I love it, but must say I have had it installed less than a week. Well after I bought it I read of some instances (one or two) on GW of people who had problems with cracking in Whitehaus sinks, perhaps due to thermal shock. I haven't experienced that, and I have an insta-hot on this sink which pours near boiling water on to it. Let's hope I never do. Prior to buying the sink, I had read a lot of rave reviews here for it. Blue Bath was fast and courteous and (at the time I ordered at least, last summer) had a 100% feedback rating on ebay. I can fit my largest pans fully in the large bowl, and with my gooseneck faucet, I can put my kitchen trash bin in upright to rinse it out. Fabulous. Also, in the past few days I have not been precious with using it, and notice no dings or scratches (so far). Also, FWIW, I went with fireclay not just for its looks but in part b/c my friends in New Orleans who had fireclay sinks in their homes there had their fireclay sinks survive Katrina even when the rest of their kitchens/homes had to be gutted.

I also got my 30" Shaw's at Home and Stone. They are great. But I do find it to be irregular enough that it's very hard to clean, as the water (and debris) don't flow toward the drain. It sounds like I'm not the only one. How bad must it be to return the sink? Not that I could anymore; it's been months since I bought it. Any suggestions? Also mine is nearly new and has little gray lines all over the bottom. Probably from the Calphalon. Suggestions on how best to clean that? Thanks!

I went with qualitybath.com for my sink and faucet. The site was closed last Saturday as well but when it reopened at 8 PM there was a 7% off sale. I ordered my faucet last Saturday and it was delivered on Thursday. By the way, if you still want to use qualitybath and there is a sign by the product that says "call for our best price" definitely do it. I saved about $70 on my sink and grid just by calling and it was delivered in 2 days.

Ebay, for me. I bought a Kindred undermount sink which, unfortunately, didn't fit. So now I'm *selling* it on Ebay!

homeandstone was the other website that had the "be back on Saturday night" notice on the website. Being closed for Sabbath expains the notice and this might be the explanation for qualitybath as well. In the meantime I am checking internet and came across blancotogo.com. This site is related to homeproductstogo.com, danzetogo.com. etc Well you get the idea. I spoke with a real person who quoted good prices, no shipping, and quick delivery. At any rate I am still shopping and appreciate the imput of everyone on the forum. Gosh what would I have done without you during the whole design, tear out, select and buy, install process.

I purchased my Herbeau fireclay farmhouse sink from Home and Stone. They had the best price and shipping was very fast and the sink came very well packaged. I found a coupon code online and saved an additional 11%.

We used homeandstone too. Echo everything hostagrams said--packed well, good price, fast shipping and great customer service.

I bought by 16 gauge stainless steel undermount sink from Overstock.com.
I received the sink today and it looks great. I will not be installing it for at least a month. But I was looking at Elkay Avado and Kohler Professional series and could not get myself to pay $1000.00 for a stainless steel sink.

galaxytools.com has an excellent selection of ss sinks, if that's what you're looking for. but they sell only their label, ticor, sinks, some of which look like copies of blanco sinks. i was set on a blanco myself, but read sterling reviews of glaxytools' sinks here on GW, and wound up buying from them, at a tremendous savings. my contractor thinks it's a great sink. the soundproofing on it, he says, is what they spray the undercarriage of cars with. it's heavy duty and well-made. and i bet if you call in the order for "several" of them, you can negotiate a fat discount. i'm still waitin gon countertops, so can't comment on it's usage. however, i can vouch for their great customer (phone) serivce.

I got my main sink (a fireclay apron front sink) from Designer Plumbing Outlet, and my Ticor SS undermount sinks from Galaxy Tool Supply. All had free shipping and great prices. :o)

Home and Stone in New York. We got a Silgranit Anthracite, the service was great, shipping was really fast, ordered Thursday night and had it by Tuesday morning, free shipping. Prices were the best I could find on line, but that was last October, they've since gone up so you'll definitely need to shop around.

I bought my sink from Home & Stone via Ebay - better price that way. They are Orthodox Jewish and close their web site from Friday night to Saturday night for the Sabbath. Ditto for QualityBath, which I haven't dealt with myself, but which also seems to be reputable. I would buy from whichever of these stores had the better price. :-)

I bought my Franke prep sink at needplumbingsupplies.com, and saved $1000 from what the price was here in Toronto! That was when our Canadian dollar was at par with the US$ and I was so thrilled. Made me realise how much cheaper I could get things in the US online - we eneded up buying all of our faucets from US online retailers too.
