I bought mine online from Home & Stone (after being recommended by many fellow GWer's). I don't have mine installed yet but I absolutely love what I've got so far! The delivery was VERY prompt, the packaging was amazing, and my cabinet maker said it was a fabulous find, in his opinion, esp. for the price and quality.

I got my Rohl Shaw's 3018 online at Home & Stone, as well. It was delivered to our cabinetmaker, who inspected it and built a cabinet to support it. I haven't even gotten a glimpse, but I'm still excited! I got several items from Home & Stone (faucet, extended flange for sink, etc) and I was happy with the price, quality, and delivery.

Ditto for Home & Stone. I ordered the Shaws 3018 over the phone and it was delivered quickly and was in perfect shape. I understand your hesitation, as I was a little anxious until I was able to open the box and inspect the sink myself. No problems though!

Got my Whitehaus fireclay sink at Blue Bath (bluebath.com), and they had excellent customer service, delivery and packaging. A++ (And I adore the Whitehaus fwiw.)

Another satisfied Blue Bath / whitehaus customer here! It has been in use for 2.5 years and no scratching. Fireclay glaze is so much harder than porcelain over cast iron.

I bought my double bowl Whitehaus on ebay for dirt cheap ($550) with free shipping. It arrived quickly, was double boxed with spray-in styrofoam padding, and was in perfect condition. My cabinet maker built a cabinet to the sink's shape and it looks great. Life would be great if my plumber hadn't cracked it during install...

It appears people have had very positive online buying experiences. So if you're happy going that way, that sounds like a perfectly workable option.

For people who are not convinced, or delivery is not a good option, I went to a local dealer and got a good price, then had them load the sink in the back of my car and drove it to my cabinet maker myself, saving the delivery fee.

A recent poster wrote about a good experience with a local dealer matching an online price and giving good advice.

A Shaw's sink of that size weighs around 125 pounds, so it's not a small thing to move, even IF the delivery is free. I don't want to stand in line at UPS carrying that box!

Whatever works for you, you'll love the sink. I'm not kind to mine and it has been very worry free.

Bought our shaw 3018 from wsc direct. They were great to deal with and had the best price I could ind.

I'm in the same dilemma. My luck I would get a Shaw's sink that didn't drain well, bowed too much in front, etc. I'm going with a local store who's giving me a great price - only $70 more than Home and Stone. I may be able to get them down lower. I can inspect the sink before taking it home. $70 is worth my peace of mind. For almost everything else I'm buying on line.

I bought my 36" Shaw's from Ferguson's which (I believe) was cheaper than any online price. I'm repeating myself here, but I went through 4 defective sinks, so I'm glad I didn't buy on-line. Other people seem to have much better luck, though!

A friend bought the one in the link. Geuine Italian fireclay double bowl at a decent price. She felt it was better looking than some of the "major brands" and liked the retailer (dealt with them before and they are excellent).

I also purchased my Herbeau Creations fireclay farmhouse sink from Home and Stone. I couldn't find any local retailers that carried this brand, and H&S had the best price online. It arrived very quickly and was packaged extremely well. No irregularities and it's one of my favorite things in our new kitchen.

I also got my 30" Shaw's at Home and Stone. They are great. But I do find it to be irregular enough that it's very hard to clean, as the water (and debris) don't flow toward the drain. It sounds like I'm not the only one. How bad must it be to return the sink? Not that I could anymore; it's been months since I bought it.

Any suggestions? Also mine is nearly new and has little gray lines all over the bottom. Probably from the Calphalon. Suggestions on how best to clean that?

Have you tried Barkeeper's Friend? I recommend getting a sink grid to protect the bottom of your sink.

Yes, we are going to get a protecting grid I think. We are still in the reno, but most things are operational now, so I've been using the sink.

I got my Rohl Allia 30" from a local dealer, they were about the same price as online dealers. I was able to pick up, so no shipping costs. Also, the sink did have some minor bows in the edges. They weren't worth returning it, but I very easily could have gotten another sink if the variation had been too much.

The sink is installed now and you can't tell that the back bowed out a bit, and the front was not level. Of course the way you set the sink has a lot to do with it.
