Wondering if there is a kind soul to help me with a photo

After my SIL's funeral yesterday, I took a few family pictures. I am not a photographer, but these pictures have meaning to me, and I think my BIL would like a copy. The background is crappy, but I think the pictures are ok (for my skill level). There is one picture though, where my nephew's g/f has a piece of jewellery askew and we think it will ruin the photo for them. Is there anybody who could look at this picture and possibly photoshop it or something? I don't even know if it's doable. If someone thinks they might be able to help with this, maybe you can email me through the GW? I'm off to work in a few minutes, so I won't be able to check my email until tonight. This whole thing is emotional for me, and I want it to be nice for them, and not ruined. Hope this makes sense.

Just to add to glib's notes on parsnips. They are a very traditional British winter vegetable. They are good mashed with butter and pepper, by themselves or combined with potato, carrot, swede or other root vegetables. They have an affinity with butter, pepper, cream, parmesan and curry spices. They also roast beautifully and are a traditional accompaniment to the Christmas meal. You can also make them into what I would call crisps and you would call chips by slicing thinly and deep frying. Parsnips taste a lot better after a frost.

FOr plain old sheet aluminum I would do it like this: 400 grit wet sand 600 grit wet sand Aluminim polish either by hand or, better yet, a polisher. As long as you're starting with a relatively smootha nd inscratched piece of aluminum, you could probably even eliminate the 400 grit step. To wet sand- spray down piece to be sanded with plain old water, use wet/dry type sandpaper, and sand in nice little circles along the surface of it. Keep it wet, keep it clean. For the buffing/polishing stage, I usually use a product called Blue Magic. It is a silicone-based aluminum(actually all-purpose) polish. Works wonders. I use the stuff on everything from wheels to auto parts, my wedding ring, you name it, it'll do it. http://www.lightningstrip.com/blue.htm I would stay away from high-grit polishes like brasso, but in a pinch, you could probably use toothpaste. Yep, plain old toothpaste. Mother's also sells aluminum polish-find it at your local auto parts stores. NOTE: When using polishes on aluminum, it is normal to come away with a lot of black residue. THat is the aluminum being removed from the sheet. When you're done and need to see your work, pull out a bottle of windex and a clean cloth to remove it all. THen you can admire your work :-] For aluminum with more than just a few minor scratches, you may need to bust out the rouge and other compounds, but that's probably a little more complicated than is needed for our purposes. Oh, and for the polisher, Harbor freight sells dirt cheap power tools and they have a few different models of polishers. www.harborfreight.com If I wasn't clear about any of this, let me know and I'll try to walk you through it. Yes, yes, Lascatz, that's it! I want a thatched roof look. That is the thought I am going to keep foremost in my mind. On that note, I did consider these kind of shingles: Here's what they look like on a house I found on the Internet: We even went and looked at a house in our town that have these in a "weathered wood" color. And although they were nice, after awhile hubby and I decdided they were too much....made us dizzy. Maybe I'll go look at them one more time.....they do give a very textured look. In the mean time, seems like Camelot II is still the front runner. It may not give quite as much "thatched" look as I would like, but it does add texture and is a little different then standard architectural shingles. FWIW, here's a couple of pics that show the two buildings a little better. Hmmmm, I think my garage doors could stand a makeover, too. If you have room for a climber you really might love Florentina or Red Eden. Both are gorgeous red roses that seem to be prolific. I have Red Eden and the blooms last forever and are so romantic. I don't have a good shot of Red Eden in full bloom, but this should give you an idea of the color. Tess is on the left, Red Eden on the right. Tess is done now but Red Eden is still packed with blooms. I'll see if I can get a photo this week.

I'm going to give that some thought. You did a great job on the photo, Jodi. My son explained to me how tedious it is to move the beads the way you did, and then you did a lot of other clean up. You were very generous with your time to do thi! I would love to show the photos, I'm just going to run it by my daughter when she comes home to see what she thinks.

I spoke to my daughter and she thinks that since her cousins are very private, that posting these before and after pics would be ok if Jodi doesn't mind cutting their heads off, or masking their faces or something. It really is amazing how she moved the beads.. or rebuilt them, maybe.

Isn't Jodi amazing? I'm very moved that she used her expert skills to help me with my photo. The kids and my BIL appreciate the photos I sent, and I was glad to be able to send this one too. Thanks as well, to all the other people who offered to help.... it meant a lot to me.
