She is, but what can you do but shake your head and walk away from it. Now she has a cute little one bedroom house with plenty of windows, and I am working on filling it with nice new plants for her as I can. :) She is the one I got my love of biology/plants/and animals from, so only fair I return the favor where I can, right? My son surprised me with tickets to see Aladdin on Broadway yesterday. :) Never mind he's almost 28 years old. He figured we loved the movie when he was a kid, so would enjoy the show and he was right! We did. Afterwards we headed back to the island for dinner in a local restaurant. All in all a perfect day. The only thing missing was my Mom who passed away almost two years ago. I miss her every single day. :) Oh and my memory was jogged about a peach tree we bought the first year we moved into our house when my kids were 2 and 6 years old. Every year we took a picture of the kids in front of the tree until our marriage fell apart. Worst memory? In I should have known at the time? LOL. My son was about 20 months and had quite a vocabulary already. My ex didn't get me anything for mothers day. Not a card with my son's name on it, nothing. I was so mad I confronted him and suggested that the least he could have done was tell our son to say Happy Mother's day to me. He insisted that would be too hard to teach our son. I turned to my son and said, J, please say "Happy Mother's Day." J then said, "Happu Muddah's Day Mommy." For father's day that year, I taught my Son to say, "Happy Father's Day" and found a picture of our son and I snuggling, put it in a cheap frame, wrapped it up, gave it to our son and had our son give it to his father and say, "Happy Father's Day." Needless to say, his father never forgot mother's day again. Too bad it took me another 14 years to see the writing on the wall.

Carol he not only knows me well, he has a memory like an elephant and remembered me saying back in November that I liked the pictures of Adobe Sunrise so recognized the name when it came in. Bright & Shiny is a new release for 2020 so I can't find anything about it, it reminds me of Morden Sunrise but the bloom is almost five inches across!

This doesn't answer your question since my DD isn't a mother. But her birthday is just before Mother's Day so when I give her a birthday gift I also buy something for her dog since he is like her child. I tend to buy several little items. This year it was fudge, a lavender spa gift basket, a new coffee mug (she favors large ones and I found one that was 27 ounces) and then of course a check since that's what she needs the most. Her condo is on the small size so I try to give disposable gifts unless she's specifically mentioned something. It was easier when she owned a home with a yard because she loves to garden and I'd find a plant that she wanted. We attended the PHS Flower show every year and that was always a good source. My DDIL is a Mom and this is only her second Mother's day. According to my son her favorite gift is a GC to a local salon for a massage or hair cut and manicure. That's so easy I think that just might become my annual gift along with volunteering to baby sit. I used to pride myself on creative gift giving but is seems like the older the kids get the harder it is to be inventive. I really dislike giving something they might not like or need or anything that adds to the general clutter. They are past the 'just starting out' phase which makes it a little harder.
