Try SW Believable Buff!! My daughter has her entire downstairs painted in this. She gets lots of natural light, so it is a beautiful light, soft golden tan during the day, pretty light soft tan at night. Great little color that goes with EVERYTHING. Definitely no pink undertones. White trim and white kitchen cabinets looks nice with this color.

I feel your pain! I don't know how many samples I bought before I found something I could live with. If you decide to go with a tan or beige color, Ralph Lauren's Oatmeal is nice. It doesn't seem to change colors in different lights like some can(look yellowish or pinkish). Home Depot used to sell RL but no longer does. i ordered a sample from the RL site and then you can have SW match it...or, SW may even have the color in their system. good luck finding your perfect color!

You are not alone - me too! Cream/yellow/golds have me stymied. Think I am just going to wing it! =)

My kitchen is BM Powell Buff. If looks beige on the card but is a medium gold/beige. Others on the forum like Pittsfield Buff. The paint site does not get much traffic. Post on the kitchen forum with an explanation that you are X posting. You will get a feel for what is popular and worth looking into. God Luck. And you are not alone. I love to be able to see what paint looks like. When I see it, I know right away. I have redone rooms over because the paint chip is different that when it goes up. I know there are many reasons for this, but really who cares? You just want to find a color that you like!

People on here are going to get sick of me, but every time I see someone looking for a tan that works, I have to come on and say "SW Whole Wheat!!" I love it! So neutral with just a touch of gold. Some have seen green undertones, but I don't really see that. I think it is on the same strip as Believable Buff as mentioned above.

Believeable Buff is a very nice color, I have it in our guestroom and my parents have their entire entryway painted that color. That being said, do you have a Benjamin Moore "color concepts" store near you? I have found that independent paint stores like this have much more experienced salespeople who really know about color (MUCH more than the associates at Lowe's, etc.) When I'm having trouble deciding b/t colors, I go to the store and they are always so helpful. Maybe they could give you some direction if you bring some photos.

This is why I tend to stick with Ellen Kennon full spectrum paint. She has fewer colors to select from and I think I could be happy with any of them.

I can't deal with too many choices. I go into the toothpaste isle in the drug store and feel overwhelmed with choosing one.

I just went through this! I tried so many different colors and finally chose Benjamin Moore Monroe Bisque. I think it has just the right darkness to really bring out my trim but is still a light color. I painted over my existing Tobacco Road which was too dark for my space, as I have a lot of north facing windows. I did leave Tobacco Road in the room across the hall. That room gets much more natural light.

I feel your pain. I spent around $100 and a month painting foam core poster boards with samples to find the perfect green for my living areas. I finally settled on one and the painters finished up today. I'm happy with my choice.

It's worth it to take your time and live with the color in the space, in all lights, for at least a few days. Bigger samples help a lot. When you find one you think is "it", put some on the wall, then live with that for a couple of days.

I wish I could help with your colors. I'm not familiar with any of them or their nuances, but I could tell you a lot about the greens I tried out :-D.

BM Monroe Bisque is my suggestion.

I can't help with specific colors, but I can empathize. My basement is beginning to resemble a paint store. For my son's room, I think I painted 7 different blues on the wall. Today I auditioned 4 yellows for the laundry room. Even thinking about moving to choosing colors for the downstairs makes me feel agitated.

I found having some input from a color consultant helped. I also found that just spending some money on samples and painting on the wall was the best way for me to decide, but it can get costly and feels really wasteful.

I have Believable Buff and Camelback and love both colors. Believable Buff has a yellow tone without being too gold. Whole wheat is the color between these on the color card and I like that one also.

Try Sherwin-Williams Macadamia. A perfect tan. No pink tones at all. Looks great in warm or cool light.

The color suggestions don't change over time, but it's so interesting how these threads come to life again. FWIW when we were looking for a paint color about 10 years ago in our last house, I auditioned SW Macadamia but ended up using and loving BM Shaker Beige.
