yes, On topic, I finally made a quilt today!

This is for Jayme's best friend, due about 2 weeks after Jayme. She is expecting a boy, and her theme is Pooh. She is very special to our family, we think of her as a second daughter. So here's where I am at. The pooh and friends are embroidered on a single layer, the star motif is thru the entire sandwich. This is the only quilting on it so far. No, the sides aren't crooked, LOL..I was rushing to get a picture and didn't straighten it. So here's my thing, I don't do machine quilting other than straight lines. What else can I do to make sure this is properly quilted? The blocks are a sage green and a pale gold, it was getting dark and didn't show up well. The trim is red to pop the red in the blocks, and the border is the same color sage. I used warm and natural for batting. The blocks are 5 inch finished to give you perspective.

That is so cute Lisa looking at the embroidery part I might just open the box and get my machine out, as for helping out with the quilting I,m no help there try meandering.

Hi florida_country_boy, Hmmm, not sure what to say, strange the Bhut always drops it's flowers? Is it in the same environment as the other plants? Maybe the seed you started from had some suicidal gene combination? I'm growing from the same seed stock as yours this year and have loads of pods about a week or so away from ripening. Already pulled a couple of eager ones that ripened last week. Glad you like the Ethiopian Berbere. The parent plant I collected seed from was started from seed I kindly received from fiedlermeister. With respect to the yellow one, I know it didn't cross with the Scorpion because I didn't grow the EB last year. The EB seeds were collect from one I grew two years ago. Now, I think I may know what you have though. I grew the Scorpion in close proximity to the 7 Pot. I'm growing a 7 Pot this year from seeds collected last year and it's maturing yellow/orange, not red. Is is possible you started a 7 Pot instead of a second EB? Ate a ripe one yesterday and it still has a killer heat and nice taste. Let me know how the 5 color and 7 Pot you just started make out. Bill

That is so beautiful. I can tell you put a lot of work into it. What a great idea to use the varigated thread. I have a feeling I'll be making one of these someday, as my husband is a train freak, and my daughter-in-law says that if she has a boy she wants to do his room in trains. Sigh...it intimidates, though. I'm the kind that would drag this into a 3-year-long project! Great job!

Nice seeing some familiar faces, and new ones too. We are still in RI, and will not leave for FL until the 15th. Just didn't work date-wise for us this year. Only made 2 retreats, but really enjoyed both....ENJOY!

Love the way you finished that, with the black strips. It makes for an optical illusion so that the strips on the perpendicular actually look longer to me than the strips on the horizontal, but I knew they couldn't be. LOL. Makes that pattern just pop out at you. Sounds to me like you DD could get bitten by the quilt bug. That's how I got started, couldn't find 'just the right' throw for a daybed so ended up making it myself. The rest is history.

I would not meader because of the emboridery I would ditch each block!You could meader the border.JMHOP very cute !

How adorable! I love the decorative stitch on the quilted stars. I would definitely just stitch in the ditch on the blocks and possibly just outline each embroidered character to make it puff.

You did a great job on that one!

I agree - stitch in the ditch around each block, so that the quilting doesn't interfere with the pretty stars! It's such a cute quilt!

I'm not one to give advice on machine quilting, as I hand quilt, but it occurred to me that it'd look good if you would, with the thread you did the embroidery with, stitch 1/4" on each sides of the block seam lines....make a sort of 'ridgie' thing between the blocks.....cute quilt, by the way.

I'm almost ready to put the binding on! I used my little machine and did a zig zag stitch in the blue thread around the pooh and friends blocks. Then I did a line down the outside around the red...

Oh Lisa, it's soooooo cute! Since Pooh is one of my favs, I especially love what you did. The embroidered characters just make the quilt and I love what you did in the alternate blocks. That's one lucky mom and baby to get such a wonderful gift!

Very nice pictures/portraits of Pooh & friends. Always liked Winnie the Pooh. I once had a stuffed Wol back when I was in college - he was smart enough to spell his name.

I LOVE it!!! What about tying with red where the four squares come together. My niece loved the ties on her baby quilt and likes to finger the knots/strings.

That is so cute! The embroidery is wonderful...love the stars..that is the first time I've seen decorative quilting like that...and it looks awesome!
