All I know is that my agent does not treat me in the way that your agent does. I feel bad for our agent, we've seen SO many homes and have put in a few offers that haven't worked out. She is on time, gives good information, and goes beyond anything we have asked of her. I wouldn't have given those people the time of day if they had stood me up at an appointment. It doesn't matter how long you have worked with them....that doesn't seem like any sort of gentleman to me. (This is assuming that you have not left out any other variables in your post.)

I think if you are pondering their interest in you as a client, you might already have your answer. If you don't have a contract with these agents, why don't you try out a different agent from a different company. You don't have to mention it to anyone if it doesn't work out.

I dont think they are tired of working with you. You really arent requiring that much work right now. Although I think its pretty unprofessional to "not show up" at an appointment, it is possible that they overlooked the appt and I could probably forgive it 1 time. As far as showing up late, that just isnt acceptable if its happening every time. Perhaps they feel comfortable with you and think its ok, I would probably mention something to them about that. (without being nasty, afterall, your time is just as valuable)

I think if they didnt want to work with you anymore, you wouldnt be receiving the automated emails. (I would just remove you from the list).

No show and 45 mins. late for an appointment without a valid excuse? Let them know what you expect, it should not happen again, or they are fired.

You seem to be laid back & not in a hurry to buy, so your REAs are not in a hurry to show you properties. That's understandible...BUT they have taken their attitude too far, IMO. Now it seems that they are taking you for granted.

I worked with a REA for 3-4 years. He showed us 4 properties in 4 years. I told him what we were looking for.I told him I was very picky. We were downsizing so we were not in a hurry.

I did a lot of searching myself going to Open Houses, looking in town records...ect. I would call him ONLY when I thought a house had potential for what we wanted, hence only 4 showings in 4 years.

One Sunday DH & I were driving by an Open House & stopped in. We were on our way somewhere so we couldn't hang around the Open House too long. Later that Sunday we decided we wanted to buy the house, but first we needed to take another look at the Master Bath...
We wanted to be LOYAL to our REA, however, we couldn't get a hold of him-long story, and not a good one ;( When we did, the house was sold...in a day!
We ended up building with a contractor who does not participate with brokers. I'm sure he wasn't happy. But c'mon 4 houses in 4 years is hardly a lot of showings especially since "I" found the listings.

Don't feel bad & ask for a better service or change realtors.
Because I wanted to be loyal to my realtor, I lost a house that I wanted to buy. That's the nature of the business. You win some , you lose some. It seems that they got a referral & a commission from your son. I think instead of you calling them "gentlemen", you should find another phrase, not so kind. Nobody should be rude & disrespectful by being late or lazy. They could have the common curtesy to assign you to a less busy realtor in the office or something. Sounds to me like they want the commission, but don't want to work for it. Lots of those kind of REAs out there.

They automatically send us MLS listings each day in the area and price range we are interested in. Otherwise, they are not involved in our home search.

Every (real estate) site I've been to has an email feature where you put your search options in and can get email updates as they come on. I don't know what the difference is between the two as I've never had an agent sign me up.

Since it sounds like the agents are a bit lazy, you might think to start doing your own searching using the various sites. Here in NJ I've had different results with different sites, they all don't seem to pick up the same listings. Between the 4 or 5 sites I'm signed up at, I have a pretty good variety of houses.

I agree with dabunch, and have also lost houses due to an agent that is too laid back. Last year I had about 20 houses I was interested in, I emailed them to the person I was going to use, they never replied. A few weeks later I finally decided to find a different agent, the houses I'd picked were gone.

Do you all think our realtors don't want to work with us anymore but are too nice to say? We actually haven't had a signed contract for the last 9 months but they know we will use them in completing a transaction. They haven't said anything negative to us, but they are real Texas gentlemen so who knows. BTW, we referred our son to them and he just bought a starter home from them ($155,000) after seeing 5 other houses. You realtors out there and others, what do you think? Thanks.

I don't know what to think about the agents but since there are 2 of them, there is no reason that you should be left waiting, and with what you are saying, I actually wonder if they dragged their feet on putting offers in for you. It almost sounds like they don't think you are serious about buying.

You can go 2 ways, have a talk with them and tell them that you are really ready to spend your money and don't want to lose a house and be honest about them being late, not returning phone calls or just ditch them and move on.

If you do sign up at a few sites, you might get an email from one of the agents. If so, establish an email relationship, it's actually what I've done. Some agents are wonderful about returning emails while some can't be bothered. I like email because I can email them the MLS numbers that I would like to look at, and it's in writing. I also use the favorites feature on the sites, the Remax site allows me to make folders to save houses to; one is called appointments. One agent I had was great about watching that folder, she knew when I was going to be ready to go out by what I had saved.

I've been looking (first few months long distance) almost a year and a couple of realtors have "gone quiet" on me, at which point I just let it slide then when/if necessary find a new one. I looked at 2 houses with one. One house with another. I'm not putting them out, I'm doing all the looking, only asking for an in when I've driving by first. In my case its not their fault that there really isn't what I'm looking for out there and I'm standing firm.
In your case - haven sent them recommendations, especially one that resulted in a sale - should keep them taking care of you.

We had had a similar search several years ago. It lasted over a year, we took a break at one point and we did a great deal of open house looking and neighborhood wanderings on our own.
BUT our realtor never made us feel like anything other than his top customer. If we called, he called right back. If we asked to see something, it was done. (If he was not available at out favored time, he got a colleague who was able to meet us.)
You have three choices:
- have an honest conversation with your realtors and let them know how you expect to be treated
- Put up with this treatment
or
- just get a new Buyers agent

When I was buying my first house, I looked at houses for two years and went through five different realtors. I was picky, but mostly I was scared. My ducks were in a row financially, but emotionally I wasn't ready to become a homeowner. A realtor would work with me for a while and then drop me after a time. I don't blame them really. Their time is money. I did make a couple offers with realtor No. 4, but both fell through. The offer with realtor #5 was the winner. And I actually found the house through an open house not hosted by my realtor.

I agree with others who say you need to meet with your realtors and let them know what you expect and what they can offer. Not calling or showing up for appointments is just plain unprofessional and rude. Your time is valuable too. Have a chat and if they are tired of you, then find someone new. Trust me, there is always a realtor who is willing to work with you!
