Comments (13)I think you can use wood like your ceiling, but I wouldn't use laminate. Get solid wood steps, stained to match your ceiling, and paint the risers your stair trim color. Saltillo tile goes great with wood. Removing the carpet keeps the stairs clean and simple. If you're planning to add a runner though, just put in carpet. It makes no sense to change the stairs to laminate just to put the runner over it....See MoreWhat color furniture goes with gray tile floors/espresso cabinets??
Comments (5)Ooh, I like the Skipping Stone color! Thanks, everyone, for your great ideas! I was thinking a white or eggshell leather sofa/sectional -- my dining table is dark with warm white denim slipcovered chairs -- would that be weird?...See MoreSaltillo tile floors - Does It *Have* to be White Cabinets?
Comments (26)These photos are beautiful and so helpful - thank you! I had come up with a few to show to cabinetmakers, but they were not as nice as these. Thank you for not posting "rustic" cabinets, as the house itself is a contemporary style. I notice that the countertops in the photos are light in color, which does look good and keeps the space bright. I am thinking, alternatively, of black sparkly granite. Light woodgrain cabinets, terra-cotta floors, pale cream walls, black sparkly tops, either no backsplash, or a very understated one. And a rectangular glass chandelier, in a contemporary style, over the island (there are only recessed ceiling lights right now, and I prefer a large single fixture to several pendant lights). That is my vision for now, though I'm open to new ideas....See Morebill_vincent
