unless they were going to give you the finish for 50% off (they delivered 50% of what you asked for), and you had use for that extra $$$ that would make you happy (maybe a fancy....firepit? gazebo?), i would have them re-do it. you don't want to look at it and always think, "i REALLY wanted..." it's one thing if an area isn't just as you want, or a flagstone is chiselled weird, or a tile it set incorrectly, but you're talking about the.....whole......pool.

I would suggest leaving it as-is, most people actually prefer Sheen because it is a smoother finish and easier on the feet. Sheen costs more than Tec, so I'm surprised they "upgraded" the finish without asking! Once the water is in it is difficult to tell the difference between the two finishes (assuming they used the right color mix).

generally folks who like the natural look prefer the pebbletec, folks who want the pool smoother chhose sheen. i specifically chose tec because the pebbles looked so much more interesting to me than the sheen finish. but i like it looking like a creekbed.

Correct me if I am wrong but don't PT and PS have to be laid down by contractors licensed by PebbleTec? And I was told they NEVER mix bags. They aren't even to mix colors from the same product. The fact that they are telling you it's a "mix" of PT and PS seems suspicious to me. Are you sure you are getting actual PebbleTec product? I would ask your PB who was the company that did your finish. Then I would call PB and make sure they are licensed to apply the stuff. And that you didn't get some PT wanna be product.

Not that there is anything wrong with other pebble product. But I know PT usually costs 2x as much. Sooo if it's not true PT, I would more than ask for my $$ back!

You know I had pebbletec before and the Stonescape I have now is closer to pebblesheen. Its a tough one actually. I know what you mean by "more natural".

I would probably just take the money and live with it. I'm sure you will sell the house within 7 years and build another pool.

thanks for all the response, yes they are licensed and they are a very quality builder, and yes it is pebbletec product, i am living with the pebble"sheen" for the moment since its been soooo long to get the pool done, I will post some pics I have some great shots of the pebbletec and pebblesheen surfaces for future builders facing the same decisions!

just check this.....did they come and "buff" your pool? the reason the pebble sheen is more is because there is more labor involved because they come in on day 2 or 3 and actually buff down the edges of your pool....so if they didn't do that for you, they at least owe you that. and i don't know if the bigger pebbletec rocks will really "buff" properly.

i think you're really letting them off the hook. sdkath is right, they are never supposed to mix bags, colors, products. ours wouldn't even let us choose mix the plaster from one with the stones from another.

i can't wait to see your pool color. midnight blue was my first choice, but it was a $1600 upgrade, and i was trying to keep pool renovation costs down since we're doing a whole house remodel. if you wind up getting your midnight blue at a discount cost, and you like the pebble size, how lucky is that??? :-)

I can see your pix fine. What color of PS did they end up giving you? Sometimes it looks super green and sometimes really blue.

it looks super nice! love the blue color, i think the green tints will leave once your water is balanced for a week or two.

the color looks great, it's all a matter of whether you're happy with the pebble size...you're in a no-lose situation, though. beautiful pool. :-)

yes you are right on the greenish look, it is going much more consistent blue, i thought maybe it was my camera, i think i may stay with what was put down, ive had a chance now to see and walk on both surfaces, both are nice, the larger stones are by no means hard to walk on but the smoother surface feels really nice under foot, and the difference in the look is very small, because as i said they used a mix, so its not as small flecked as the straight pebblesheen,
