Hi lala...yep, I saw that "green water" pool, too....would not be my preference at all. I'd definitely try to see one in person instead of pictures, though. MMG probably has at least one pool in Houston with this color...dunno. I think it could be really "iffy" water-color wise. I don't think lots of people choose it, unless maybe for a beach entrance. It just doesn't say "pretty pool water" to me.

I emailed MMG to see if they could give me a reference so hopefully that will pan out. Rich_2009 has a desert gold pool and it is just the perfect color of blue. But then the other one is just as green as can be. Very confusing. I wonder if that other green looking desert gold ever changed? Their pics could have been taken before the chem's were balanced.

Tan finish will equal green pool. The tan pebble-tec was all the rage here for several years, so I've seen lots of green pools. Save yourself the time and agony and choose a different finish.

Houseful, that's my thinking, too. I think when you try to match the interior finish color to earth or natural-tone coping/stone/etc, it just doesn't work well. Doesn't end up really setting off the natural materials. It detracts. Water should be some shade of blue to look right in a swimming pool. Unless you purposely want it to look like a *pond*.

That was the idea. People wanted them to look like ponds. The even used rolled bond beams- no tile, just pebble-tec all the way up and over.

Since you have the natural looking tile, you may want to stay away from that windex blue color which looks unnatural (but I do love it!).

I had my mind set on doing blue granite sheen with desert gold on my steps, benches and sun shelf. But then I saw pictures of rich_2009's pool and it is really really pretty. It looks like a teal blue/turquoise color so it got me thinking. This is one of those choices that you can just sit and overthink I guess! I really like the look of tahoe blue because it has that teal color to it, but I like the texture of sheen. Blue Granite is supposed to be the color equivalent but I just can't see any green at all in the pictures of BG! I know, I must be weird because all I ever hear is nobody wants ANY green. ha ha

Lala...you might just fall in love with the Desert Gold if you see it in person, or not, and you really can't judge by pictures, truly. Colors on monitors can give very false values. Professional photographers buy special monitors that try to be as color-correct as possible, and it's still difficult. This IS a big decision...one you'll have to live with...so go out and find one with Desert Gold and Blue Granite and see them in person with your own two eyes (that you'll be using to look at your own pool). ;-) You'll figure it out....just relax and do a little leg work.

We love our Tahoe Blue. We didn't want the green, but we didn't want the (in our opinion only) sometimes unnatural blue of Aqua Blue or Blue Granite.

Rich's pool is beautiful. So is Travis'. I have two computers side by side and I pulled up Rich's pool on both at the same time. What a difference. I agree with Piscespool that you should see a pool in person before deciding.

Holy Cow!! Natural One..I've seen your personal build, and just have to say seeing another one you've done...I'd almost move to Arizona to have you build a pool for me!! That's just SO me!! Jaw dropping! Congrats on your talented and beautiful designs. And for posting a Desert Gold that was a great use of that material. The reddish varicolored glass tile and darker waterline tile really contrasts and sets it offagainst the coping and deck!! Your water features are to die for. *sigh*

Desert Gold is one of those underrated colors in my opinion. It doesnt work everywhere though. The most underrated of all that works in many many settings is Bordeaux, or any purple based interior. Absolutely gorgeous effects.

Both the lap pool, pool, and spa are desert gold Pebble Sheen. The coping is a natural travertine bullnosed on site. The deck is also travertine in a Versailles pattern.

hahaha, too funny. Well, there is the design and then the construction. One can really only be done in the same state, the other can be done worldwide from any location. I dont want to get off topic here though and "advertise", as I've never meant to portray that on here.

Have you checked out Prism Blue PebbleSheen? It is a very teal blue, similar to Blue Granite but a little deeper in tone and more teal.

Philanna, yes I really like the prism blue too. Alas, it was another upgrade! I am upgraded to the max at this point unless I want to start selling arms and legs! Hard to swim without those!! ha ha
We are going this afternoon to look at a few pools so hopefully that will confirm my choice so I can relax!

lala....I know you'll report back when you see the pools in person. It will really ease your mind and make the decision much easier! I don't think you'll have to upgrade to get the look you really want. When I saw the Aqua Blue, I knew it was right for *my* pool and look, but not if I had gone a different design direction. Happy looking! I promise..you'll look back and cherish the design and choice process...and miss it when it's all said and done.

I actually based a good deal of my pool design on your personal build, so just wanted to let you know how influential your original design was. I don't know your company name or a website to see more of your designs because you're so discreet, so I like seeing other examples of your work. ;-)

No, I didn't see a desert gold in person but I did see a blue granite w/ desert gold combo and that sealed the deal for me! Whew! I can relax now!
