Terra Legno Engineered Wood Flooring- Anyone know anything about?

I have 6 samples (all about 12" long) of Terra Legno Engineered Flooring in a 3.5" width and 9/16th thickness sent to me from Dyerich Flooring that are very nice with a 3 MM real sawn cut wood veneer over 7 layers of Russian Birch Plywood and undescores under the wood in Brazilian Cherry wood species. I also have samples of their White Oak unstained and stained which are so nicely constructed and beautiful.

I would like to know if anyone knows anything about this hardwood flooring since the price is good and the quality is nice and the testing seems to indicate it is a good wood. It is difficult to scratch or dent and holds up to samples of pee poured on top for 6 hours in case one of my very small dogs has an accident. It seems to be a 30% to 35% gloss on top slightly less glossy that the pretty BR-111 Brazilian Cherry 3.25" planks I have here that have a 3 MM (1/8th) Veneer on top and are only 3/8th inch thick and are about $1 more per square foot in price.

Hi,

The difference between this flooring and real hardwood floors is that you can always resand and polish hardwood.

If something heavy falls on the engineered flooring, you will alway have that dash in the floor.

We've built three homes and always put in real hardwood. It's more expensive, but worth it in long run. Also, we have two very large dogs. But they do not pee inside.

Whether engineered or hardwood, if your dog is peeing in the house, that's not his/her fault. It will seep into the floor.

Hi Trisha57 thank you for replying and caring.

Solid wood flooring would not work in my home since I live on the preserved wetlands in a townhouse with concrete floors and no basement. To install a plywood subfloor in order to install solid wood floors would raise my floor way higher than my 3/8th thick Porcelain Ceramic Tile and also be a problem with doors in the other room. I also plan to do tile in the kitchen and really would like my wood floors to be around the height of my kitchen floors and my two foyer area floors.

My client today showed me that the BR-111 might be thinner at 3/8th thick with the 3 MM wood on top but it fits together so much better and is tighter fit. The Coswick Rift & Quarter Sawn White Oak (with the 4 MM real wood on top) fits together the best and is so nice also.

I just wanted to know if anyone heard of this flooring and if they had, what comments they had about it.

The 3 MM real wood on top & the 4 MM real wood on top can be refinished also and sanded if need be.

I emailed my contact asking him for clarification on what he said vs. what's printed on the back of the sample. (see below) I don't know what all the little hash marks & such mean, but all in all I am satisfied with his answer to this and the many other questions I've asked. We will be moving forward on the job with this provider. We feel good about it. He's presented himself very professionally and I think we're going to be very pleased with the end result. I'll be sure to repost when it's all finished so y'all can see what we got. :) Thanks for the help! Here's what he had to say: "I was mistaken in that particular product as to the length size. The chocolate cherry is 12"-47" which is still a beautiful floor. The checker board look is caused by poor installation. When we install a floor we are very particular with how it is laid out to avoid what we call stair steps: ------I and H patterns ------I---------------I which makes the floor look "checker board". ------I I-------------I------------- -------I ------I---------------I Hope that helps,

I'm not going to be much help but I can tell you that I also bought my hardwood from ProSource. I couldn't find much online so I worried too. After two years, no issues. While trying to find pictures of my hardwood online, I stumbled upon a company in another state selling the same stuff. They were about $600 cheaper and no sales tax. I asked ProSource to match the price and they did. I ended up saving a little over $600. With Harding being an in house brand this probably wont happen for you but it usually pays to do some research. I found ProSource to be rather high. The wood I bought had a marketed price is $7-$8 per sq ft (too high) then the guy told me he could do $5 something.. I ended up getting it less when they price matched (and I know they are still making money!). I don't know how much you're installing but don't be afraid to ask for a discount.

Yes, I did. I could not find anything that I liked as well. I had a local installer (with a good reputation) take delivery of the flooring and they installed it for me. I love it, but it was not cheap LOL!
