I forgot who suggested it to me. But I sure want to thank you. I love it! I can't believe it was so cheap--$40, and does a great job. The only thing I can't figure out yet is how to scan pics to put on my computer. I'll eventially figure it out, or get one of Rachel's friends to show me. Just hope I don't pass out when I go to buy the ink cartridges---lol.

Jamie, I am also delighted with these new printers. Mine is an HP and I have had no trouble with it at all. One time, when I was running copies on some cheap, thin paper, I had a JAM - It was real easy to un-jam.

I gave up on the panic over the cost to cartriges. When you think of 25 cents a copy at a print shop, and up to a dollar for colored copies, that price isn't that bad.
If you really want to justify the cost, just put a sticky note paper on top of the printer and add a hash-mark each time you run a copy. I bet you will find it to be a bargin. I guess the cost of paper would need to be figured in with that.

I find that Amazon is a great place to get ink. I know that you can get the generic kind, but I always get the original ones. Postage is free if it is over $25, so that helps. Even when I had my ink guzzling Epson, it was cheaper to go the Amazon route.

Thank you for your suggestion. I got into the site and was reading, then decided that I would try once again. To my amazement it worked and I was able to put two new ink cartlidges into my printer. So thank you........Grace

Try Print Pal, I've used others and have been happy with cartridges. But I save the most by buying "bulk ink" and refilling cartridges two or three times before replacing. If you're doing only photo, you can do the self service at places like Walmart for under 30 cents each, don't remember the exact number. Your numbers about say 35 Cents just for ink with the Vivera set, maybe more with the Canon. To this you have to add the cost of the paper, what another 50 cents per picture? Of course you save on the gas if printing your own actually saves a trip. My Lexmark X8300 series AIO printer has smaller, lower cost cartridges than most other Lexmarks, I like that because the print head is in the cartridge and when it wears out (from refills) it cost less to get a new set of print heads.

Anyone know about canon downloads for a mac?

I have a Mac and don't use the camera software or iPhoto. I use the cable connection and turn on my camera (an old Olympus 4.1 megapixel) to the "view" mode and in icon of the media storage pops up on my desktop. Doing this should also launch iPhoto on your Mac. I use Photoshop for image editing so I just shut it down.

With the exception of 'is it a speedy printer' (it is not), the questions you ask depend on your computer software, not the printer. To print an excerpt from an article, I copy and paste it into a word processing document, where I can adjust the font, etc, and print from there. You can extend the ink by turning off the color option unless you really want it and setting the black to a lower quality setting. I also use the "selection" choice alot rather than print an entire page.

i bought canon printer for cheap price only. take note ink jet printer prints fast than laser jet.
