Canon printer and scanner

I bought a Canon printer and scanner last year. It is a PIXMA. I just bought new printer ink and so far have not been able to put the new ones in. When I open up the place where the ink goes and turn the printer on, the old ink cartredges come out from where they are suppose to but go back in very quickly. So far I have not been able to put the new cartredges in. This is a new problem as I have not had any trouble before. I use my printer a lot and this is very anoying. Please help me.......Grace

I just watched a Youtube on the MX340 and see what you mean, it scoots to the side. The video showed that it does move back to the accessible position after a minute.

Thank you for your great suggestion. I got into the file and was looking at it, then I decided to try once again myself. Much to my amazement it worked, I got both ink cartridges in and working. Grace

The only negative to all-in-ones is if one of the functions you require fails the whole unit is not satisfactory. I recently went from a flatbed to an all-in one and have no regrets. Of course, mine was a package throw-in and free of charge so my feelings may be a little askew. Also, you might want to check and make sure any HP unit you are interested in comes with the Vista drivers. Mine was an HP Vista "ready", but I was suppose to download the Vista drivers; 177 MBs. On my antique DUN that would have required 9 hours, if the connection remained stable. The alternative was to purchase them from HP. I filed a complaint with the HP CEO and received the drivers for free. I did have to wait 10 days for them. DA

I think this might be the new brother color model that replaced my version. They come out with new versions regularly. This one has a bigger touch screen mine is not a touch screen, just an information screen. But this is a great price. It looks almost exactly like mine except for the touch screen, mine has a regular screen there. It uses led light source instead of the laser light source. Here's the manual for your printer. Pages and pages worth. Seeing as you know the answers to all the questions helpers here might ask.. like what system you're running [Win XP or later models]...how the printer is attached to your system...whether the drivers are up-to-date...I think you'd be well advised to have a look at the manual, chipster. It might just be the quickest way to get an answer to your questions. Thank you for your suggestion. I got into the site and was reading, then decided that I would try once again. To my amazement it worked and I was able to put two new ink cartlidges into my printer. So thank you........Grace

I have had canon pixma printers for many years and they more or less all do that double move. I don't know why it sometimes takes longer to reset to the load position.
