Is it a color ink jet? Do you regularly print in color? Office or home use, heavy or light? If black and white suits you most of the time and your use is light to medium at home, you can find a laser all-in-one at Costco, Amazon, Office Max, etc., in the $100-$150 range. I'm partial to Brother and Canon MF series, and I personally avoid HP. If you locate it near a PC on the network (or some near the router, depending on your router), you don't need wireless capability. Occasional color or photo printing is easily accomplished at places like Fed Ex (used to be Kinko's), drug stores, etc.,

I have owned three Epsons and while they were superior to the print output of an HP I was able to try at home, I too noticed the ink dries quickly in them if you don't print often. I also found they were not very intuitive setting up for printing on 4"x6" photo paper. That may have changed/improved since I used my Epson (7+ years ago) but I still want to avoid one because of the ink issue. I'm going to do some comparisons with Canon and HP printers today and make a decision soon I hope. I am in the process of (re)starting my own home-based design business again. I had it for eight years before accepting an offer I couldn't refuse from a high tech company 7 years ago. I left them in September 2012 and wanted to get my travel to Southeast Asia out of the way before I got serious about going back to work.

I've been using an HP Photosmart Premium for over a year with good results. The ink is a little pricey, but results are good. One of my requirements is a good photo print. It does well in that department. My wife bought a Lexmark last year. She prints only a few pages a day. At 6 months, it got a paper jam that could not be cleared. it was so bad that it messed up some of the internal delicate assemblies. After my wifehad a seance with Lexmark on-line, they did replace the printer - took 3 days - delivery to our door. Not long afterward, few of trhe jets on the print head clogged. Shipped it back the they replaced the print head. It has been 9 months since the last repair, and it is still working. Wife not the happiest about the printer, but it is now doing acceptable work for her. She is running it wireless through our ATT gateway. At present, we have 3 devices serviced by the gateway (combiation modem and router). My computer is connected by an ethernet line and her computer uses the WiFi side of the gateway. We've has as many as 3 computers simultaneously talking to the gateway without a problem. Ink cost for the Lexmark appears to be less per page than the HP. Again, the amount of black ink used will depend on how the prnters are installed. Both printers are installed to default to the draft mode. This is the fastest printing and uses only half the ink as "nornal" printing. If the printer is installed to print in "normal" mode, it uses a lot of black ink.

That's what the power down and up is for to get everything on the same settings. I am pretty sure what is needed is to select the new network on the printer setting and then enter the new password for the new network. It won't be able to get online until it has been updated with that information. You should have a control center for the printer on the laptop, it installed it when you installed the printer software. Go into the control panel of the printer, not the computer control panel! Select the network interface information select the new network in the list of available networks when you do that it will pop up asking for the password enter the correct password and connect. Using an ethernet cable from the printer directly into the back of the router should let you use it with out doing any of that it would be directly plugged into the network, so no wireless password needed.
