Thank you! Gail, the light is old, not original, but probably 20 years. During my light hunting, I did see many similar ones.. try searching for nautical lighting or coastal lighting. There was another company I had booked marks as well.. I'll see if I can find them!

Honestly, I rather like it. I get what you're feeling tho, have felt the same torment many times, and only you know the degree it's nagging at you. ;) Were it me I'd zero in on the front door. The whole scheme seems to need a little something (to me) just as a splash of alternate color, even if not vibrant. It would only take a day to get a first coat on & see if a new door color makes you content with the big picture. Has your paint store encouraged a second stain application with that subtle undertone tweak? Something isn't quite sitting right with me from a technical aspect. (Maybe one of the resident pros over in Paint who use exterior stains often could address that.) I ask only because stain is not like paint in that it absorbs into rather than sits on the surface. Granted I've only used solid stains on exterior fencing & prior deck. But it just seems to me that from a technical aspect a second application that's not really discernibly different from the first might not give the desired end result as it absorbs into what's there. Versus paint which would coat right over a prior layer. I hope that line of thought makes sense. Side note to KK: I've been wondering how your house turned out. Bummer to hear the 'real life' color didn't make you do cartwheels on the lawn. Such a pretty house!

I personally like the light teal the best. But am in a teal feel right now, and haven't even got there. If you like purple, perhaps an eggplant. It would mean looking at all the colors of one, but I like the dark door too and eggplant would bow to this. Add a planter to the right in a color that works with the door. You didn't mention this, but I would (at some point) extend the porch overhang a bit beyond the post and put up a gutter across.

I love the colors Annie posted in the swatch. LOVE your house, it's beautiful. Urban sprawl has made architecture like that in my area almost nonexistent. I also think the dark is too heavy on top, but I agree it would be smart to do some mock ups of color combinations, because choosing two different colors near the same depth can be tricky without looking flat or muddy. I would suggest that since you have the cream on the bottom has a slightly clear yellow base, look at blue or grays with a clear blue base. Kind of a warmer Navy (not too much black) would be a great trim color, or a soft red. Do you like color? If you do, what colors do you like in general? I'm big on finding ways to incorporate colors you already love, because I think there is just something about coming home to a house or at least a front door that is your favorite color. And the great thing is, no matter what that color is that you love, there are dark and light shades of it, bright and muted versions, and it's the base of greys and browns, so chances are you can find a way to include it.
