Want to help me find a rug?

In the "one thing leads to another" category, in our old house, the ceiling in DD's room needs to be replaced before it falls down on her while she sleeps. This has turned into the addition of a wall of built-ins, repainting her room, and new bedding and rug. She is 10 and ready for a change from her pink room. She picked out the quilt shown in the link, and together we picked out a purple color for her walls (kind of similar to the purple pillow shown at the head of the bed in the picture, maybe a bit lighter). She has white wainscoting on the bottom half of her walls, so we can afford to go a bit bold on the upper wall color.

Anyway, I have been looking everywhere for a rug that will work with the new bedding. I don't want a primarily purple rug, since there will already be a lot of purple between the walls and the bedding. She likes green, and I think it would be great if I could find a rug in the bright green color that's in the bedding, but I can't seem to find the right green (I don't like the solid green one that Company Store has). I would also prefer that it not be a totally solid color -- too boring. Maybe a braided rug, but I can't find the right colors. We were going to do FLOR tiles (which is what she has now) but she'd like something a bit softer. The FLOR tiles we picked were perfect -- a dark purple, a bright green, and a bright pink. I may still go that route, but I'm still looking for the right rug. Any suggestions?

I'm looking for 5x8 or 6x9 or thereabouts.

One alternative is to have a piece of broadloom cut to the size you want and have it bound. Considering the size you mentioned, you might get lucky and find a remnant.

What about this braided one from LL Bean? The rose pink color has similar colors to the quilt you've picked.

Just dug out some pics of the room, which might help. A few things have changed since this pic was taken but the basics are the same. I'll be getting new curtains and maybe a new rug too if I can convince DH. There is now a 5' tall narrow shelf unit to the left of the settee, a "bar" type small table where the floor lamp is (floor lamp is moved closer to the settee), and the stuff on the bookcases is all different now. Hard to tell the orientation from the pics, but the bookcases are directly opposite the settee.

Help me find replacement rugs

I got these in 2005 at Bed Bath and beyond. They are area rugs. Not sure of material, but it is the black and beige weave and black edging I like. The fiber is shot and I can't find replacements that are the same. I don't want something similar, I want the exact same style. I have looked and can only find close approximations. They ate area rugs. You guys seem to have the knack for finding stuff! Phooey I can't figure out how to post the photo!

If large, rug size should be big enough for front feet of all seating to be resting on it, which doesn’t look possible with layout. Other option is to place a smaller rug in front of couch and to make it feel less awkward, add a coffee table. Suggest taping out different sizes to experiment. Rug colors in other rooms don’t have to be the same but your room‘s shades need to be pulled together, so I’d use a rug similar to one in picture and then add complimentary cushions.

I am going ahead and ordering the second rug. Thank you all. Artemis I think there is something about ushering in the new year that brings out the tidying gene. My home office desk has had its surface scrubbed and it’s drawers purged, and now I am looking around with wide open eyes. I think I’ll be posting a flurry of requests for assistance.

Also, when I googled "green braided rug" I find that Colonial Mills has lot of greens. Check out the Jefferson Moss - it has green and purple. I also like the light, freshness of the first one - Spring Meadow. That would be great if she tired of her purples and wanted to switch later on.

The second one that olychick would be perfect. At least when I copied and pasted a picture of the quilt and a picture of the rug into a Word document, they looked perfect together. And the rug would definitely have the soft feel that your daughter wants.

the llbean braided rug in wildberry does seem like it would work pretty well...the braided rug has the sortof country feel to it that the quilt has...

Okay, I love the LL Bean rug! I think the colors look perfect.

I love that little shag rug with the purples and greens but I'd have to buy 4 of them to sew together and $600 is too much for me to spend for something I might screw up! I love the zebra one, and there was another one on the site that had the same green/white in a polka dot, but all that white scares me.

I may be ordering the LL Bean one. Thanks everyone!

I own the LLBean chenille rug in a color they've discontinued; it's in my kitchen. Really good quality, and so soft underfoot. I think it's a great value for a nice rug - enjoy ... and please post pictures when you're done!
