I used it on my mother when she was in the hospital.

That was quite few years ago.

My sister had to use it for many months while she was laid up with her crushed, infected leg. It worked well for her, not perfect, but well.

I have a recipe for it on the KTGP. It works great on pets but I have never tried it myself.

Dry Shampoo (3 types)

1. Cornstarch
   - 1/2 cup of cornstarch

Massage cornstarch into your scalp, let it absorb oil for a few minutes. Brush out to remove.

2. Oatmeal and Baking Soda Dry Shampoo Ingredients:
- 1 cup of ground oatmeal
- 1 cup of baking soda

Mix the ingredients together and massage the mixture into your hair.
Let the powder absorb the oil and then brush your hair to remove it.

I am alone here, but I have always had oily hair. When I was in the hospital for over a month, they would not let me take a decent shower or wash my hair, they used some kind of dry shampoo on me. It made my hair MORE oily. I could not WAIT until I could blow that place, get home and wash my hair.....in fact it took three shampoos for my hair to feel normal again..I felt like an oiled rag doll.

In my experience, the no-rinse shampoo caps work a bit better than dry shampoo. I've linked one below, but there are several brands available.

My granddaughter liked the spray-on kind (sorry, I don't have a brand name) when she was hospitalized with her broken legs.

Thank you everyone - I'll have to stop at the drugstore. I remember when I was in high school my girlfriend would put baby powder in her hair to cut the oil. So I can see how these products might work.

When I was younger and my hair was oilier I used PSSST in a spray can. It worked well and brushed out easily. The home made ones and baby powder made a mess and were hard to brush out.

Used a spray on dry shampoo on my husband when he was first out of the hospital from shoulder replacement surgery. It worked fine.

You might phone a medical supply store and ask. When I had back surgery the hospital gave me some packaged wet cloths to take sponge baths with. They might have a shmpoo product as well.

Can you not shower because on something on your face,neck or head or below? I have had procedures when I couldn't shower and used those inexpensive walk in salons and had them wash my hair.

I've used both PSSSSSST and Tresseme dry shampoos in a pinch. They work "okay" to remove excess oil from your hair, but there is nothing like that "fresh-washed" feeling from a regular shampoo. Once when we were having our bathroom re-modeled,and our bathroom was under construction for 3 weeks, I went to a local beauty shop for a shampoo only. It was worth the cost (not much).And how did I shower? I didn't, I used baby wipes from the drug store.

I prefer the homemade...no smells..the spray on one had a smell to me DD says to put the cornstarch or powder on at night, then brush it out in the morning, haven't tried that yet, always use it when I'm in a rush in the morning.

They have adult wipes most pharmacies have them they can also be used on hair then just use a wash cloth wet with warm water as a rinse.
They used them on my mother when she was in with the broken hip.
I keep packages of the big adult wipes in all of my bathrooms.
