Dry shampoo for brunettes

Today I experimented with a crazy tip from the internet...and it worked!

I used Hershey's Cocoa powder as a dry shampoo for my brown hair.

In the past I've tried ready-made dry shampoos, cornstarch and even baby powder. It did take away that yuckiness but always left me looking like I should don an 18th century gown.

I raided my pantry and found some cocoa powder. I sectioned my hair and using an old makeup brush applied the powder very lightly to the roots. I let it sit for a few minutes then brushed it out in the shower stall. It wasn't messy but since this was my first time I didn't want to chance it.

It really worked and I loved the fact I already had it on hand. I wouldn't use it for the office or an event but it's perfect for the unexpected neighbor drop-in or quick run to the store.

Has anyone else tried this?
