I'm sure Adam fan are quite capable of doing this too. I'm dismissing it as more media hype.

It's not a Adam fan that discovered this issue. There were parties for Kris and ATT helped his fans to send large amounts of text votes at once. The majority of his votes came from his hometown.

If you read the Idol boards you'll see that lots of people have figured out how to place lots of votes at once. It's not unusual for someone to place over 200 votes in a short time.

Then again if you ask some people here at the KT they will tell you the votes don't matter at all anyhow, that AI chooses who they wanted to win.

My trusting self believes the votes do count and that all is fair, although I think it'd be better if AI changed the voting system to 1 vote or 1 text message per phone line... but I don't see that happening.

Personally I don't think it matters either way. I think that the judges/producers choose the winner based on the popular vote, and when Danny Gokey got voted off, so many of his supporters turned to Kris they couldn't ignore the popular vote.
I think Adam will have a great career and is obviously very talented.
I think Kris will benefit more, of the two of them, from the AI title and AI support.
Adam may be disappointed that he didn't get the nod, but I personally feel Kris' style of singing is more mainstream, and that's another reason why he won.
Any group of people could jam the text lines, just by continuously calling, and it seems to me in years past this issue has come up as well.
I was happy with the outcome of the show.

Well, I am personally disappointed. On a previous thread there was some question about voting. I had taken the stand saying let the person who won enjoy his victory. Now, the question is "WHO REALLY WON?" I liked them both, did not care who won. I just like for young people to succeed in life and do well.

But, we as adults are NOT setting honorable standards for young people to follow if we continue to rig the votes, cheat and lie to get what WE want. Is there no HONOR ANYMORE???????????? I am very disappointed in the ADULTS who know better, and who have the eyes of young people on them; looking to them to set certain moral standards for young people to follow and some adults CONTINUE time and again to fail in their duties. SHAME ON YOU!! AND THEN THEY WONDER WHAT WENT WRONG WITH THE YOUTH OF AMERICA. SHAME ON ATT REPS!!!!!!

If the voting system isn't fair and accurate then what's the point of American Idol? The public is supposed to choose the winner.

They should do the same thing ABC does with Dancing with the Stars. Only allow a set number of votes PER phone line.

I don't think it's right but I do think Adam and Kris fans alike can do it. It's like the Christmas tree affect. The Kris fans must have done it better. It takes time to power text like it was described. It seems like a fair loop hole for Kris and could have as easily swayed to Adams side. Would that be fair to Kris if Adam had won? Same thing. Idol will have to address this issue.
I vote for who I like, not for who I don't like. In this case they were all good. I'm guessing Fans of Adam will still get to hear him as much as Kris fan get to hear him.

I guess I don't really see it being all that different than people calling in to vote several times for their person. People on this forum even do that.

I think it was better for Adam that he didn't win. Kris will get a boost that he wouldn't have had before and then I suspect he'll fade into oblivion unless he chooses to go to some Christian type format.

In order to text multiple votes you need a ATT phone. The reps from ATT went to the Kris Allen results parties and gave away free ATT phones along with directions on doing multiple text votes. Adam's fans were not given any free phones.
When Kris won he said, Adam.....you deserve this, so he even thought Adam was a better singer.
Last night they were both on Larry King. Adam and Kris were roomates during the show and became good friends. I'm positive that if AI asks them about the voting Adam will say to not dispute the results. He's a class act through and through.

oops, I said the votes from Arkansas was 38,000. It was actually 38 million votes and the state has 2.86 million residents! So that comes out to 13 votes for every man, woman and childs in Arkansas.
How is that possible?

I feel bad for Kris. How can he truly now enjoy the title? And if they turned around and gave it to Adam it still would be tainted for him. It is now a no win situation.

Didn't they add on time for fans to call in for this one? To me, 38,000 votes from Arkansas is a small number. This is Kris' home state. A whole state and they only registered 38,000 out of millions and millions of votes?

What used to upset me, was when I called the number to vote and after that first vote registered, I would hit redial and the announcement would name a different contestant for my next vote. So, I would have to call in again to cancel the wrong vote and then once more for my vote to count!

I don't believe 38 million from Ark why don't they post running totals as they come in. we really never see the voting or the real results they could have gone either way this may be a ruse to blame Christians for "stacking" the votes. IMHO I've already heard that rumor.

Adam is by far the more talanted singer. I don't vote but I think the limit should be one vote per phone. How shallow is this. Chris now will feel he doesn't deserve it. Adam WILL be the star to make it though regardless.

I think this voting situation has ruined the results for Kris. I do feel bad for both he and Adam. I think the ATT employees who gave out the phones should be severely reprimanded. This will be the downfall of American Idol. People may still watch but it will never be the same.

Don't "standard text messaging rates apply"? If that's the case, why wouldn't you expect AT&T to try and get as many texts as possible. They're making a KILLING off of the voting process.

I'm glad Chris won. I like Adam but for me I'll have to see what he comes up with. I know that some of his stuff I just won't like. He seems really strange to me.

IMHO...been an Idol fan since it began-BUT..if I was one of the producers? I would insist that the last voting from the fans should ONLY count for 50% of the final tally and let the 4 judges vote individually-then tally the results which would count for the other 50%!
Seems to me-that would eliminate the gorging of votes for any one Idol contestant! Let the pros make the final decision.

This really ruined the show for me. What's the point of watching and hearing the judges critiques if the voting process is flawed. I doubt I'll be watching again.
