Super excited! Just bought by dream light fixture

I just splurged on the light fixture I've wanted from day 1 of my kitchen planning. Before that actually...came across it on a completely unrelated search and fell in love. I was really questioning if I should actually go ahead with it though because I wasn't sure it would fit, look weird, whatever. Now that I'm done pressing the 'buy' button, I'm super excited.

Sorry...just needed to share :) I can't talk to anyone outside of gardenweb about kitchens anymore lest they think I am TKO'd (besides my fiance, he already knows I'm nuts) :)

You're killing me here!

I just got the call yesterday that my light fixture for above my table is in. It took me over 6 months to pick one. Now I see the Crossover fixture on your Architects and Heroes page and I love it. Waaah!

Heck no it's not just you...I'm glad I found this site just for this reason. I have people to converse with that are as excited about gardening as I am! I live in Florida, so I have things growing right now (peas, broccoli, lettuce, garlic...) plus I started my tomato seeds and some herbs the beginning of January. I can't wait until I get a tomato!!! Well so far the storms have been mostly rain and this afternoon (SAT) we get about a 1/2 inch of sleet and then back to rain. Maybe we wont get alot of snow if the temp stays up enough. I am just getting to see my younger blueberry plants and if the weather stays nice this week like it is suposed to might beable to get outside to do a little bit. All will tell by morning. I think I am going to start some seeds soon. I know I should wait another few weeks. Maybe I will give it another 2 weeks and call it close enough to April. We have a few bulbs already sprouting that we bought sitting in the house. They need to be potted I think. At least until I can get them outside. My agenda is set to finish spring cleaning this week and early next week at both houses so I am ready to work outside and spring clean the berry field and garden ASAP. When the weather finally decides it is spring I will be ready to rumble.

I would like to add an amendment to my tile details. In the way back of my mind, I kept thinking that I had purchased Jeffrey Court tiles, but couldn't find my invoice from Best Tile to prove it. Finally came across my box of leftover tiles in the garage and sure enough, they ARE Jeffrey Court tiles. I'm not sure if Best Tile has exclusive rights to carrying this particular tile/line, but since so many of you have asked about my backsplash, perhaps this bit of info may help. Specifically, the tile is Jeffrey Court 3x6 field tiles, part # 519505 in Glacier. I'm thinking that if a store carries Jeffrey Court, they may be able to order this piece.

No no no don't ruin your modern house by "updating" it with cutesy (stained glass/ornamentalia/Americana). Look at the best Usonian/Wright houses for inspiration. If you want a bench for the front porch it should be a striking simple one - e.g. not traditional or ornate. Likewise with plantings. The wide entrance path bordered by gaudy annuals was the most egregious suggestion. To each his own, but you must have liked the modernist aesthetic when you bought the house. Honor it.

I'd been lusting after a certain chandelier, and put in the order the day we closed on the house. :)

I just saw that in a house that was being built. It was hung in a vaulted ceiling on the beam in the kitchen. Really cool idea because it gave width where only one thing could be hung on the beam. Love it!
