White Pet or Marie Pavie?
Comments (5)I have both and like MP better but it's strictly personal taste. Both bloom a lot and are healthy in my no spray garden- neither really has any bs after a very cold and rainy springtime. I live in Kitsap County near Poulsbo. Although they are both really nice roses, *today* I like MP better because I like the burgandy stems and red coloring on the new leaves; it is a very attractive plant. I also like the Vintage clone of MP; it has a more double bloom than the other clone I grew in another garden from a Texas vendor, Chamblee roses. Truthfully, I'd probably get both, but I'm greedy - ! Here's LWP in the first photo and MP in the second. LWP has a much tougher living situation, with root competition and shade. MP is coddled....See MoreWhite or Cream Bedding with Off-white Bed
Comments (18)lynn2006, your room sounds very tranquil. That's the look I'm going for as well. I've decided to go with a mix of creams and whites. I also ordered a light blue quilt to fold at the end of the bed. When it comes in, I'll see if I think the color will work. I want it to mainly be neutrals, but I'd like to add in a touch of that blue/gray type thing that a lot of people are doing now. I'm trying to get out of the red/gold/green phase. I've been solidly in that for at least ten years now! Oh, and if anyone knows of a good source for *reasonable* bed scarves, if you could pass along the info, I would appreciate it. Originally I was going to get a blue bed scarf to put at the foot of the bed, but the ones I found online were as much or more than buying a whole king-size coverlet or quilt!...See MoreBlue and white pet bowls
Comments (23)Oakley - I've always liked those Spode dishes and I have a few. I did want something you could see the pattern on the outside as well. I was looking on ebay on and off and sometimes I'll find something I like but then wonder if you can actually USE the piece. If it had cracks and chips that doesn't seem like something you'd want to use for food or drink. I currently have stainless bowls. They're fine. Changing the bowls was something I wanted to do a while back and never got around to it. Part of the problem is when I see something I want, I want that thing and not a substitution or something close or similar. I mean that doesn't hold true for everything since money doesn't grow on trees but you know what I mean. I want those first bowls. :) Actually the bowls are in a raised feeder, but I'm tired of how it looks. I should probably keep a similar arrangement though. The search continues.......See MoreAm I 'White Pet'?
Comments (20)Good thought and great memory, Lisa, but unfortunately not. : ( Yvonne has very globular white blooms with just a dusting of pink on the buds, while fully exposing her beautiful yellow stamens when open. Most notably, she has a STRONG luscious fragrance that was apparent from the first flower. The main difference, however, is her leaves, which are elongated, of the type DA calls "leander". I haven't a clue where that name came from, although on another thread someone said it may be a Gallica? characteristic, if I remember that right. I'm wondering if I did take a bush form cutting and it just didn't express the scent on these first flowers. I hate waiting!!!...See MoreEG3d
