My First Quilting Project

Hi everyone,

I am new to quilting and want to make a patchwork quilt that is 42 1/2" by 59". The pattern is fit for a child or teen with adding an extra row. The quilt is made of 63 squares of 9 rows with 7 squares per row (70 squares for a teen size quilt).

My questions are (I feel like I'm asking the impossible) do any of you have any unused fabric or precut squares?

I don't have much fabric and there's no fabric shops around town (Wal-Mart stopped selling fabric here).

Colors I'm looking for are bright since the quilt will be used by my niece or nephew. Rainbow colors (ROY G BIV, so that we can remember) should work best and make enough squares for me to sew. I will be sewing on my Brother machine (LS-2125i model) to make things easier. Would white thread work?

Thank you for being understanding. Sorry for the lengthiness.
