Gosh, your chair looks gorgeous and it is perfect there-- also love the vintage photos! Are they albumens? I have a small collection of albumens-- I wish I had kept more of my original collection.

Red I've always loved your LR so much and that chair is WONDERFUL!

Every time I see a pic of it I am so glad that I followed your example. I'll be honest here, often I second guess myself because my rm. doesn't fall into the the vast majority of the way rms. are decorated w/ painted out trim and it is all very monochromatic but whenever I look around it or see your pics I just say 'Yes! This is so perfect for me.'. I have to get pics to post for you of the toile curtains w/ the olive background.

Your sepia toned art is perfect. PS loved the pic I saw of your dachshund on the chair too.

I'm sure that my BT seems to look so different from some of the other pics simply because of the lack of light trim but mostly because the lack of direct light in my rm. I do think that it looks quite different in my rm. compared to many of the other pics out there. Good example of what light (or lack thereof) will do to a paint color.

Makes me hope that I will love it just as much when I get it on the walls of the cottage when we move.

I'll never forget the first time I saw a few of Red's rooms and was so impressed. Wish that DH was on board with the CL lifestyle. Age, bad back, lack of movers, etc. makes a bad combo.

When I finally get our LR and DR finished, I want to do my office in Baby Turtle. Ttodd, when you say that it changes with light, like any color does, what would it look like with one largish west window? The color I'm after is more of the 'baby poo' than anything cool. Unlike many others, I'm not fond of the Svelte Sage that's in our hall bath. I want brown/green.

red, I love the new chair. I'm trying to get an idea of what it costs to cover a chair like that, but I can't find anyone who is willing to say how much they paid. Can you give me a ball park, i.e., more or less than $500.00? I have 2 to cover and am just trying to get an idea. Did you provide the fabric and how much yardage did it take?

Brutses, I paid my guy $250 and he also did a light refinishing on the wood legs and carvings. The fabric came to about $23 per yard and I bought 7. A little much, but better to have too much.
Parma, you are always too sweet to me. And you do need to have a truck and a man who won't flip his lid to make estate sale or craigslist shopping work. Or you have to have a strong will and a strong back. In the olden days, I got a lot of things myself. Not so much anymore. On the Turtle, it came out looking like mud in my son's well-lit room, so I used another color. I think it would be really nice in a sunny room. It is indeed, a brown-green.

Funkyart, the prints are not even vintage. They are sepia knockoffs of old N.Y. photos I got at HomeGoods. But now I need to google albumens.
Ttodd, you and I are in the same Turtle-boat. Sometimes I think my rooms look too dull and monochromatic, but then, I look at YOUR photos and am happy to have such a livable color. I wish I had more light in my LR too. And I need to see the toile.

Thanks again, all.......for the chair comments. I am glad I waited YEARS to get it done. If I had done it in '97 when I got it, it probably would have been too busy for me now.

Brutuses, I have 2 chairs waiting to be reupholstered that are probably about the same yardage wise and work wise as Red's. I was quoted $300/chair by 2 diff. places in 2 totally different towns/ areas: 1 snooty, 1 questionable area! Mine do not have loose cushions though so I'm sure they'd charge me a bit more if I did. Still debating about getting nailhead trim.

Red I am soooooo glad to hear how long you waited to reupholster! I've had 1 chair since at least '97 and my other 2 chairs since about '02 waiting ever so patiently. Finally moved 2 of them out of the LR when DS2 started eating the stuffing.

Once I have a decent arrangement of fresh florals from my garden and my desk cleaned off I will take a pic of the toile curtains and post.
