Colors to coordinate with BM Baby Turtle?

We painted our living room this past weekend, 1/2 strength BM Baby Turtle and love it (after trying 9 different colors)! It coordinates with our furnishings and rugs beautifully. The living room is open to the kitchen and dining room which the builder painted SW Lotus Pod. It's definitely time to get some color up in that area as well. We'd like to move away from green in there.

The kitchen cabinets are a medium tone cherry (with kind of an orange undertone which I'm not all that fond of). The countertops and backsplash are on our "redo" list as we don't care for what the builder installed. We'll likely get to them in the fall. Currently the counter is a granite tile that is gray and the backsplash is a yellowed beige tile.

I'd love to try for a golden color in there, but with the cabinets I'm afraid it will go too yellow. And I'm afraid a beige will just be too flat looking against the cabinets.

Anyhow, I'd really appreciate any suggestions as to paint colors to look at. I have the SW fans decks here and have a bunch of strips pulled out but am a little overwhelmed. I also have a BM store not to far away as well.

I LOVE my Baby Turtle too, in my kitchen and piano room. Within view of it I have a BM Sulpher (Sulfer?) Yellow livingroom at 75%, and Palladian Blue ceilings, and a wall of floor to ceiling cabinets in Copley green which looks exactly like when I mixed half Baby Turtle and Half Palladian. So, while I really like it with cool colors ((My in-progress backsplash mosaic features the very same color tile with lots of other greens and turquoises, and I'm re-upholstering a 1950's loveseat in turquoise duck)) - BT also looks good with reds, so the hallway WAY across the room (going into DH's doorless office) is BM Cognac Snifter, which is a rich terra cotta.

The 75% Sulphur Yellow works well with the Baby Turtle in my light. Sometimes they look very similar. They change in a passageway, so I can take a pic of them side by side if you like.

BM Wythe Blue looks very pretty and I just recommended BM Imperial Gray to Red. I rally like my BT w/ blues.

I need opinions on someone that has painted with Baby Turtle. What color did you use for the fabrics on the room. Please tell me if you like the curtains. I also posted on decor forum. I am trying to take better pictures but is hard with the light, there is the same green on the fabric. The pillow is only pretend but I can make them for the chair or the couch. The color on the wall is baby turtle by BM and it looks so much nicer in person. I think I like this ones better. Please give opinions. They are still not finish keep that on mind. I like the short rode but it can be with rings o without or could be pleated. Thank you for your help.

I'd have to say that of all the pics that I posted the only one that is reading off in the pic is the close up one of the desk where the color appears to be more like the pics of PeytonRoads. It's all in the light that your rm. will get and what colors you pair it w/. My rm. only has 1 window that gets the full mid morning early afternoon sun. The other big window overlooks a covered front porch so the rm. is never really 'flooded' w/ bright natural light. I have a lot of natural warm wood tones in my rm. including the heavy trim. My sofa is olive and my chairs dark leather. There isn't much bright white in my rm. other than the photo mats and lamp shades. While my rm. is never 'dark' it is always cozy. The one place that I always want to be when it is a dark, gloomy, rainy sort of day is in this rm. as I feel wrapped in it's warmth. My rm. is decorated more warm and dark as opposed to decorated bright and crisp and I think that really sets the tone for the color. For instance I bet if you took away PeytonRoads bright white trim and replaced it w/ a rich ivory or cream color the BT would totally change appearance.

Chloe that is just beautiful. Your crown moulding really sets it off. Thank you for posting your picture. ttodd, I think you may be right about them being too alike. I seem to always pick too light a shade for the ceiling and it ends up looking white and I was trying to avoid that this time around. I really like how the Limestone looks in Chloe's pic, so I think I will sample with that!

There was a girl at the store that suggested a few different colors, she actually didn't like the Baby Turtle with my scheme and suggested a few other colors like Night Owl (too dark for me), Olive Branch (I liked this one), Dijon (nay), and Timothy straw. Granted, she only had my cabinet colors to go on, I didn't have my granite or floor samples with me at the time, just the cabinet colors, Navajo White and Black.

lmhartman, here is a pic I took last night - so in all artificial lighting, which kind of washes it out. The baby turtle is on the left, the Sulfer on the right.

I think I'll go take another one right now, in daylight. Reality is somewhere between the two. Same camera, no flash. The Water Deva DH brought home recently is very happy with both colors, and we look forward to seeing pictures of what you do. And yes, we intend to do something about the ancient door. And no, that's not a doorbell, it is a garage door opener that needs painting. Remodeling is never finished is it!

bettycbowen. . .is your Water Diva by a lady in Tulsa (Florence Park area, I think)? I LOVE her work!! She usually does the Paseo Art Festival in OKC in May.
