We lost our oldest child, our son after a car
accident also. He was 17. It's been 17 years.
It's a very hard thing to live with and deal with,
but you do....Just try and take care of yourself.

I am so sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine how devastated you must be. When my mother died, I found this written on a note card in her desk drawer. I don't know if she wrote it or if she read it somewhere and it touched her so she wrote it down and saved it. Since then I have read it many times and I can't tell you how much comfort it has brought me. I hope it will bring you comfort as well:

Time takes even the small and simple memories we hold of those we love and turns them into gold. May it comfort you to know that death cannot diminish the important ways your loved one touched your life, that grief cannot take away the happiness you shared, that sorrow will fade in time, but love remains forever.

Jamie, I am so very sorry for your loss. Although I have no advice to give on getting through the loss of a child, I can tell you that my heart is breaking for you. I lost my husband in 2002 and although that was a terrible thing to live through, I can't even begin to compare that to the loss of a child. Please know that I am saying prayers and asking God to give you strength to cope.
