I'm so sorry for your loss Deb. No matter how perpared you think you've made yourself, it's never easy to lose a parent. Especially when you do every thing with them, and a lot for them. I pray for comfort for you.

Oh, Deb, I am so sorry. I, in fact, came in here this morning because I couldn't go back to sleep. I had dreamed that my mom had died. Think it's because I'm starting to worry about her all the time. When I saw the title of your post I thought, "That could very well be ME posting that this morning!"

I am so sorry Deb for your loss. I lost my Dad in 81, but my Mother is still living. She will be 96 in July. She is not happy at all. I hope each day that passes brings you peace. Here is a hug for you.

So very sorry about your mom's passing. There's no greater love than that of a mother. Mine has been gone since '85 and not a day passes that I don't miss her! I hope you can find solace in the fact that your mom is no longer in pain or laboring to get a breath.
My DH has the same diseases and was in ICU for 4 days last week..it was touch & go, so I know how you feel. Be strong & treasure your memories with your mom...always. (((DEB)))

My sincerest condolences Deb. losing our Mom is devastating weather it is suddenly or known before hand. All I can suggest is to keep the memories of the life you shared and all the good things you can remember right in front of you now. Surround yourself with folk who loved her and share as much of those good memories with everyone. They all will have special things to say and share too. Some of the things you will be surprised you didn't know about. I lost my wonderful mother many years ago and it was the hardest time of my life. I miss her everyday and still talk out the "heavy" things or major decisions I have to make with her and use the wisdom she imparted before she left to make my choices. I remember all the great things we did together and tried to be as good a Mom to my kids as she was to me.

It's almost 10 years since my Mom passed and I think, not a day goes by, I don't think, "Boy Mom would love to see that or What would Mom think of that". And I constantly dream about her, always good dreams...The pain will lessen but hopefully the good memories will last forever.....

My heart breaks for you...it is so hard, and we are never ready.

I lost my mom just six months ago, and I cry many, many days even still. Just posted on the "valuable lessons" thread that I would trade everything I have for just 30 more minutes with her.

I will pray for you, and hope you have some better days soon. We'll only miss them until we see them again some day.

Thank you all for the kind, loving words. What precious forum friends I have found here.
I have been over to Mama's house....how lonesome the place seems without her smiling face sitting on that couch. It tore me to pieces this morning for a while. But I rallied around and helped poor David start cleaning some stuff up.
I will never quit missing Mama and Daddy, but I am so thankful Mama died at the home she and Daddy built together. That is how she wanted to go and by golly she did!

Remember the good times; Don't dwell on the bad times.

Keep a notebook handy. Place your Mama's name on the cover. When you are alone and think of her, jot down a specific memory or event. Don't concern yourself about good writing or chronolgical order - just jot down the memory and the date of that event if you can.

Collect photos of Mama, her friend, and family, and label each one - dates are important if you have these, but don't write on the face of the photo. Its important to identify, where possible, the names of people in these photos.

As time passes, you will find the collection has grown and finally, you can consider writting her biography putting events into chronological order. The result will a genealogical tribute to your mom and someting that you can pass along to other members of your family.

Remember, what you consider as mundane is really a history of that time period, and you may be surprised at how much has changed. Mama's biograph can be a historical record of "How it Was" in her day. Relate the events in her life to the current events of those days, 9/11, wars, economic disasters, town improvements, new constructions, moving to a different house, marriages, births, and deaths, etc.

I'm so sorry for what you are going through now. I hope you and your family find comfort from each other and your memories. Please come back and tell us more about your mother when you're feeling up to it, if you can.
