Our visit with Wanda VA

We arrived in Front Royal on Tuesday afternoon and after getting set up we went to visit with Wanda and Stan. It was so good to see them again as it has been about 1.5 years since Beth and I were here on our MH Tour.

I don't know what I would have done without Wanda. A couple of days ago I started having problems walking and had pain in my hip. I didn't know if it was from the bulging discs in my back, a pinched nerve or muscle spasms. Yesterday I could barely walk. I took a Flexeril to relax my muscles and also a Ibeuprofin for inflamation. Then I sent Mike to go pick up Timm in DC and then onto the National History Museum. I sat in the motor home for a couple of hours until I could get up and walk a little better. I called Wanda and had her take me to the emergency room. It was amazing how quickly I got seen. I walked in and the girl took some information then she walked me into the ER where a nurse was already waiting on me. The doctor showed up about 5 minutes later. I was out of there with my prescriptions in about 20 minutes total.

After filling the prescriptions we went back to Wanda's house where I took my pills and then sat in the kitchen and dozed off and on. She made dinner and we waited on Mike and Timm to come back.

Today I felt much better and the pain is just about gone in my hip. Thankfully I will be pain free to continue the rest of our trip.

Thank you Wanda for all the wonderful meals. I thoroughly enjoyed all the time we had to visit and enjoyed the laughs. Mike and Timm had a wonderful time also. It was great being back in your home again and I hope we will be able to come back at a later date. Please give Stan a hug from us.

For dessert tonight Wanda made a fruit pizza that was delicious.

This is my cousin, Timm, who has traveled with us many times. He lives in Florida and will be with us for the next two months. He has met several KTer's over the years.

Hope your sleeping peacefully by now and healing too.
Glad there was a happy ending to your day, Wanda is a great host in many ways. Thanks for taking care of the crew, Wanda!

Wanda, you are wonderful to take such good care of Nita. It is so awful to be away from home and sick. Thank you for being so caring.

Fit in your car and your house, if citrus have to be brought in for winter..LOL. Marc, I too love plant shopping, online and local nurseries..I'm buyin one more Kumquat this yr before winter..I hope..Have to watch the money, ya know? LOL My HD's here never carry citrus..that's one reason I dislike living in IL..One yr they had a big citrus sale..9.99 for all types of citrus which were in great condition..I ended up w/a Meyer's that live 13 yrs..the last yr I had it, it produced 22 lemons. But I made a mistake, placing in the gh thinking it'd do even better..Big Mistake..that yr my heater went out on one of the coldest nights of the yr..I lost 37 plants to the ice..I was devestated.. But I'm back on track, all trees are safe..Now we have two heaters in the gh, and some cold-sensitive citrus come in the house. Anyway, I do love shopping for plants, too..it's fantastic..Toni

Hi Marie!! So nice to see you!! I hope you are doing well and that your collection had rebound from your loss years ago. It was a hard winter again for us this year and I did have damage to a few Palm trees, but they finally made a come back.. Hoping they will again. You are so funny about my Plumeria collection! I do have it bad and I have been really good about trying to select and thin down, but its not working to well. I do have a few and thanks to LISA! ;-). She has called me out on how many I have since we had a fun contest over there at the Plumeria forum a few days ago. I had to admit how many I had.., It was a blast ! Lisa is a new Plumeria enthusiast and I'm trying to help her along .... We all remember those who come forward and help instead of lurking and being over helping out. It does mean a lot to them and it certainly makes me feel good. So Marie.. Are your trees doing well? Have you added to your COT collection too? I haven't been over to the Adenoum forum lately.. I really need to go over and say hi! I did count my collection the others day since we are changing up my backyard deck area. We made some benches to add to the side yard to place some of my trees on. Some of my friends call them bleachers LOL!!!! I'm really glad to hear from you. I haven't been on the forums to much and I try to get back to say hello to my friends. Just sent Pug a few trees last year and she just sent a pic of how they are leafing out.. I am so pleased.. Hey Josh...yes I had just watered them before I took the pics...I will wait a while before I water them again....maybe mist then water a little...They did have roots when I recieved...some did not..I will just mist the unrooted ones... MrLike2u...thanks for the compliments... I really am fascinated by the icicles as well...especially hanging down from the fake ones!!! LOL...Mother nature said that "she" could do a better job than the fake ones!!! The light at night behind the icicles is just beautiful!! I wish that I could capture that ....But since they were measuring over 4 feet long...my son decided to take care of them this afternoon!!! Good thing bets were not called in yet!!! LOL... Katkuskris....the white Ghost was potted in the glued mediumof pebbles...that bothered me, but i had to buy it...I loved the color..I cannot see anys signs of it being grafted...Like my Plumerias that are grafted, you can see the graft line...could it be under the pebbles...would you recommend this spring to break the pot and repot in the 5-1-1-mix? I have been trying to study about the different mixes...and am ready to start with new mixes come spring! I have located a nursery located an hour away that has turface and other special ingredients that will be helpful...so I know that my medium is not that great...but I am a "newbie here on this C & S forum, but ready to commit to repotting the right way!!! Stan and I were thrilled to have them here! This is Nita's third visit with us, but it was the first time we met Mike and Timm--but we felt as though we knew them already. Nicest people in the world!

I felt so bad for Nita with her back pain, and am glad she was able to get relief. Nita was lucky, because there have been times that Stan and I have had to wait almost 5 minutes to be treated. Our local hospital is amazing (years ago, it was rated as one of the top hospitals in the country for patient satisfaction).

I tried every argument to keep them from leaving (even threatened to ask the State Police to close down the roads leading out of town), but Nita has a schedule--and she sticks to it!! I just hope she, Mike and Timm will be back one day...the sooner, the better.

BTW, I am holding Rambo...our lovable Yorkie, who found a new best friend in Timm!

It's so great to see everybody! Wanda is as pretty as her quilts. We love "traveling" with you this way, Nita.

Larry was so tickled to see your pictures Nita. We made the same trip, same route, about 9 years ago. Stan and Wanda are awesome hosts.

Nita, sure wasn't happy to hear you were in so much pain on your dream trip. Very happy Wanda took such good care of you. She's very special to have so much concern. Now that's behind you, I hope the rest of your trip in uneventful, health-wise.

Great to see pictures of all of you--"Hi, Timm!" That fruit pizza looks delicious!

Nita, glad you are feeling better. It was good to Wanda, and I love the Yorkie. I am probably not the only one wanting the recipe for that Fruit Pizza. Gonna share? : )
