Watched "The Voice" for the first time tonight.

I really enjoyed it. I didn't know how the show worked, and I still don't know what happens after the blind auditions, but it seems like a good show. The judges were a lot of fun.

Oh, and after that I watched Castle. I haven't seen that show in ages, and had no idea Castle and Beckett had gotten together. Are they married? Very cool to see them so romantic! I also noted that he's gained some weight. :-)

I watched The Voice for the first time this weekend too and saw parts of both Sunday and Monday shows. It was a real surprise. I had no idea that it was so entertaining. I guess I thought it was like the other audition show with the bickering judges and the embarrassing contestants who can't sing.

I am not too happy about the predicted frost tonight, but otherwise, our spring here in Madison has been OK so far. We had little rainfall in April, and I had to hand water our blueberry shrubs. But we've had considerable rain since then, so I think the ground is recharged with water. The grass is happy, and our yard is covered with wild violets. I put off mowing 'till last weekend, because I wanted to give the violets a chance to bloom. I hope you get everything covered, and it warms up soon.

There are only two places where farting can be a major life event -- the first is anywhere several guys are together; and the other is in a hospital post-surgical ward. Until you can fart, you don't stand a snowball's chance in hell of getting out of there (because if you can't "pass gas," it means your intestines aren't yet functioning after being under general anesthesia). Chris Harrison said in his blog that Wes was asked to be on the MTA special, but declined. Then, Wes started contacting some of the guys in an attempt to see how many would "support him" if he were to appear on it. He then contacted the producers to say that he wanted to be on the show, but they (the producers) said no. I wasn't watching the show at all when Ed left. I think I only saw one episode before he came back. So, although I know he works in Information Technology, I don't know for what company he works, or what his duties/responsibilities are, etc. The "IT world" encompasses one heck of a lot of different stuff. I work in IT, and there are a little over 150 of us in the IT dept. With the exception of the desktop support group (about 20 folks), there aren't too many of us who can take over other folks' duties and responsibilities. Desktop support is desktop support is desktop support. But the database administrators couldn't suddenly take over the duties of the Citrix administrators; the Exchange administrators couldn't suddenly take over the duties of the webmasters, etc. In addition to not having the skills or experience to do the other stuff, there are the network permission restrictions. Only specific folks can log onto a server to apply patches or make any changes; only specific folks can make changes to the network firewall, etc., etc. And there aren't too many folks in IT (at least where I work) who have so little to do that they don't have to worry about whether or not they're at work for days or weeks on end. So, I can completely understand Ed being worried about his job. Any IT person who really cares about what he/she does would be concerned about how it was being handled in their absence.

No, James didn't plan to leave, and the card wasn't a "thank you, and goodbye" gesture. They tape 5 episodes in a day, two days a week. Some reports say they tape two days every other week, other reports say they tape two days each week for a set number of weeks before taking a hiatus. Reports consistently say there are a total of 46 taping days each year (for the past 30 years). James was on for 32 games, which would be, at most, 8 taping days (that would work out to be his first show was the 5th show taped on day 2 of that week's taping; then 30 shows over two days the next 3 taping weeks; then the 1st show taped on the first day of taping his final week of taping. I've seen things that say his first taping day was February 5th, and last night's show was taped on March 12th. Alex announced his cancer diagnosis on March 6th, so James gave him the card that his daughter had made less than one week later - on the first day of taping following the announcement.

Thanks for the reminder. My husband snd I bonded on our first date over ’Tapestry’, and I have been a fan of JT since his first album. We have seen him in concert many times over the years, with the most recent a couple of weeks ago. We also saw their concert together. Ah, the soundtrack of our youth and young love…

I think The Voice is probably one of the best shows on TV, and especially for family viewing. I used to watch American Idol but The Voice puts A.I. to shame. They hit gold with their judges.

We've been watching it since the start of Season 2--and really like it. We do not like American Idol; X-Factor is better than AI, but not nearly as good as The Voice. I love Blake Shelton. Plus, we really like Shakira and Usher; they are better than CeeLo Green and Christina.

Oakleyok, I enjoyed that clip (thanks!) and went on to watch some other performers I missed earlier. Some of them are great! Like the Morgan Twins.

Maire Cate, I saw a small part of the previous show, too, which is how I came to watch last night. Impressive!

I enjoy the interaction between the judges. Happy to not see Christina and Cee-Lo.

Will not watch AI anymore. I enjoyed it when Steven Tyler and J-Lo were on.

I really don't like the first episodes of each season of "AI," where they blend the heartwarming stories and good voices with the ones that are basically used to make fun of (which gets the show big ratings).

I watched the first 2 seasons of "The Voice" and really liked it -- it's just that 2 nights of it eats up a lot of my time, even when I just Tivo it...

But I saw a clip of Holly Tucker this morning on "Today" with Kathy Lee and Hoda. She sang "To Make You Feel My Love" and I was just blown away. She has the voice quality of Carrie Underwood of "AI," in my opinion.

(As an aside, my newspaper ran an article about why "The Voice" hasn't created any breakthrough stars, like "AI" has. I'll add the link if you want to read it.)

I might have to jump back on the bandwagon!

The voice is the only "talent show" we watch now. The great underlying message is there is no prejudice as none of the judges can see the performer. Big, small, short, tall, thin, fat, young, old, black, white, male female.

They choose based on talent not marketability, I love the look on some of the judges faces when they turn around and realize that big booming voice came out of a little waif of a girl or a sweet soothing love ballad came out of a huge gruff biker type.

A good lesson for all.

Since last year, my favorite talent show has been The Voice, but we watch X Factor and Idol too.

In the duo that Oakleyok put the link for, the guy with the guitar made it to 8th place on American Idol a few years ago.

We think all of the finalists are great this season, and can't decide on our exact favorites yet.
